Jeremy Irons joins Mediawan's limited series "The Count of Monte Cristo"

Mediawan has confirmed Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons decision to join Sam Claflin and the cast of the limited series "The Count Of Monte Cristo," produced by Palomar (Italy), in collaboration with DEMD Productions (France) and directed by Oscar® winning director Bille August. 

"The Count Of Monte Cristo" is produced by Palomar (Mediawan) - Italy, in collaboration with Demd Productions (Mediawan) - France and in collaboration with Rai Fiction - Italy and France Televisions - France. Shooting is planned in Malta in the upcoming weeks. The title is distributed worldwide by Mediawan Rights in cooperation with CAA (for North America) and with the participation of Entourage.

Irons assumes the key role of Abbé Faria in his third collaboration with director Bille August. Simone Spence, Michele Riondino, Lino Guanciale, Gabriella Pession and Nicolas Maupas. The cast brings together Ana Girardot in the role of Mercedes, as well as Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Blake Ritson, Karla-.

He is best known for such films as "Dead Ringers," "Reversal of Fortune," for which he received the Academy Award® for Best Actor, "The House of the Spirits," "House of Gucci" and for his acclaimed role in the TV series "Watchmen." The English actor will portray the iconic character Abbé Faria who befriends the novel’s hero, the iconic Edmond Dantès, played by British actor Sam Claflin. Faria plays a decisive role in carrying out his revenge in the French novel, "The Count of Monte Cristo."
