MediaHub announced that “Alaca,” the first drama series produced by its affiliated company globalsphere, has been licensed in Ecuador, marking its entry into the Latin American market. First unveiled at MIPCOM with a teaser, the series was completed in spring 2024 and debuted in May. Since then, “Alaca” has been licensed to over 10 countries, spanning regions such as Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) with its first international run taking place in Bosnia, followed by its first entry to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) through Azerbaijan, and finally, in Latin America (LATAM) through the new Ecuador deal. The show received particular interest in the CEE region, with licensing deals from Romania, Latvia and Lithuania and Hungary to name only a few.

“Alaca” tells the story of a young girl whose life is turned upside down when her kidney is stolen during a violent kidnapping, driven by her rich and powerful biological father's desperate need for a donor. Searching for answers, Alaca sets out on a journey from the small town of Dalaman to Istanbul with her family. Along the way, she faces challenges from those closest to her, including her mother, who holds the key to a devastating secret, and Kenan, the love of her life, who carries his own hidden truths and loyalties. Over 120 episodes, Alaca evolves from an innocent small-town girl into a resilient woman, confronting harsh realities while maintaining her purity and inner strength. Against a backdrop of class divides, criminal intrigue, and personal sacrifice, the series explores the complex dynamics of family, love, and identity, keeping viewers engaged at every turn.

“This licensing agreement in Ecuador only further confirms ‘Alaca’s appeal across diverse global markets,” said Arzu Zeynep Demirtaş, Marketing and Product Manager for MediaHub. “As our first production, it’s rewarding to see the series connecting with audiences globally. Building on our experience with ‘Alaca,’ we are already developing new IPs and we can’t wait to share more details about our upcoming originals, although ‘Alaca’ will always hold a special space.”

With further negotiations underway, MediaHub anticipates closing additional licensing deals before the year’s end, further expanding the series’ global reach.
