“A Woman Scorned”
Production house Medyapim recently announced it is adapting the award-winning BBC Studios series “Doctor Foster” for Turkish audiences. The show will be broadcast on Kanal D on October 2020, and Madd Entertainment will distribute it as “A Woman Scorned” to selected territories in the international market.
“Doctor Foster” is a gripping psychological drama about a woman who suspects her husband is having an affair. The popular BBC series won a number of awards in 2016, including several for Best Drama and a BAFTA prize for its lead actress. “Doctor Foster” has since been adapted for India, France and, most recently, South Korea, where it was the highest-rated drama ever for cable TV.
Acclaimed Turkish star Cansu Dere will play the lead, a strong and complex woman who puts her life on the line as she follows the threads of her husband’s betrayal. Also starring in the show is acclaimed actor Caner Cindoruk, who becomes Dr. Foster’s nemesis.
“It makes me extremely excited to tell the story of a woman who refuses to be a victim and chooses not to surrender. I am confident that Cansu Dere, with whom I am working for the second time after ‘Mother,’ will be successful bringing this character to life,” said Fatih Aksoy, President of Medyapim.
“With Medyapim’s stellar track record for quality scripted adaptations, I have no doubt that this version of ‘Doctor Foster’ will captivate audiences. I cannot wait to see Cansu Dere’s interpretation of this story,” added Andre Renaud, SVP Format Sales for BBC Studios.
