Movistar Plus+ International, the platform's new division focused on international markets, will be present at the upcoming MIPTV in Cannes. “Offworld,” the original Movistar Plus+ series produced by Buendía Estudios that will premiere in 2022, will lead its offer.
Currently filming, “Offworld” is a series directed by five renowned figures from the Spanish audiovisual industry: Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Isa Campo, Raúl Arévalo, Alberto Rodríguez, and Isaki Lacuesta. The scripts are the work of Isabel Peña, Alberto Marini, Rafael Cobos and Isa Campo, under the creative coordination of Fran Araújo.
With five interconnected 50-minute episodes, this drama deals with the impact of a solar storm hitting the Earth, causing a general blackout. In this new reality, five stories unfold as the characters struggle to adapt to a world without electricity, telecommunications or means of transport, in which they must address their most basic needs, instincts and fears.
The presence of the international branch of Movistar Plus+ at MIPTV is a continuation of the international expansion strategy recently announced by the company. In addition to presenting “Offworld,” the new division will expand the global reach of other original content within the market, including non-fiction titles such as “Lola” and “Raphaelismo”.
