Irish indie Pictor Productions has signed a worldwide distribution deal with Serious Kids for the company’s first comedy animated production “Flix –by Tomi Ungerer” which is now in full production and will air on RTE in Spring 2023. Targeting kids aged 4-7, the series has received the support of Creative Europe, Screen Ireland and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

From the imagination of one of the world’s most famous children’s authors comes the first ever animated series based on his work. Flix is a pug dog born to cat parents and living in Cat Town. He is bilingual, climbs trees, swims in the river and loves fish as much as sausages. Together with his best friends, Tabi and Munchkin, he explores all the marvels of Splitt Island.

“We are delighted to start production on ‘Flix’ which is based on my father’s book. We co-developed the series with Tomi working with Genevieve Dexter and Jules Coke at Eye Present, and so it is a natural choice to sign with Serious Kids as our distribution partner where Genevieve and Leila’s knowledge of the property will ensure the best presentation at Annecy, Cannes and beyond,”  said Aria Ungerer, CEO of Pictor Productions and Creative Producer of Flix.

“‘Flix’ is very close to my heart, a bridge series targeted at kids 4-7 which is a unique property brimming with young talent and Tomi’s signature visual jokes. We will be sharing sneak previews at MIFA and launching the series at Mipcom 2022. Production will complete in November this year and we have already signed a pre-buy with ABC Australia,”  commented Genevieve Dexter, CEO of Serious Kids.
