RTL Deutschland secures German content package deal with Paramount

The license agreement extension will feature Dan Brown’s "The Lost Symbol" and comedy series "Made for Love," as well as "Star Trek" and the hit CSI franchise.

RTL Deutschland and Paramount Global Content Distribution's most recent deal extension includes series for either RTL+ or RTL Deutschland's free-to-air channels for their German premieres, as well as highlights from the Paramount library."We want to inspire audiences with our content, which is why we're making a concerted effort to expand our range of streaming and TV content," Henning Tewes, Managing Director of RTL and VOX and Co-Managing Director of RTL+, said. "Expanding our long-running cooperation with Paramount will allow us to offer our viewers even more top-class international series in the future. The agreement between the two companies includes titles such as adventure series Dan Brown’s "The Lost Symbol" and comedy series "Made for Love," as well as "Star Trek" and the hit CSI franchise. The package deal's title "The Lost Symbol," is adapted from best-selling author Dan Brown's novel of the same name. T series will have its German premiere on RTL+ later this year. RTL+ will continue to expand its offering for younger and female audiences in particular by carrying other series such as the GLAAD Award-nominated reimagined sci-fi series 4400 and the acclaimed comedy "Made for Love."

RTL is also acquiring the rights to a number of cult and strong, high-profile series. The German premiere of "CSI: Vegas," the sequel to the global hit “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” on VOX extends the long-standing and fruitful cooperation on the CSI franchise. Starting on 1 May, the classic Star Trek series will be available for streaming on RTL+. Users of RTL Deutschland's streaming service can already access all nine seasons of 1980s cult soap Dynasty and hit Showtime series Dexter (all eight seasons). Further highlights are set to be released later on this year.
