Telefilm Canada appointed Anita Damiani as National Director for French-language feature films

Telefilm Canada announced the appointment of Anita Damiani to the position of National Director, Feature Films – French Market, for a five-year term. She officially took up the role on July 2. In this position, Anita Damiani reports to Francesca Accinelli, Senior Vice President, Program Strategy and Industry Development at Telefilm Canada.

With nearly twenty-five years of experience in the audiovisual industry, Damiani has held a variety of roles within Telefilm, including specialist in distribution and marketing, as well as regional director responsible for funding feature film projects in Quebec’s French-language market.She has also overseen key portfolios such as national Theatrical Exhibition, French-language Marketing, the COVID-19 Emergency Fund for cinemas, and initiatives aimed at increasing collaboration with official language minority communities.

Her expertise, leadership, and in-depth knowledge of Canadian cinema position her well to continue collaborating with industry stakeholders, with the aim of strengthening the visibility and profile of Canadian feature films. In her new role, she will play a central part in the strategic revision of Telefilm’s programs, ensuring they evolve in alignment with current industry priorities.

Francesca Accinelli expressed her confidence in the appointment, stating: “Following a rigorous selection process, I was pleased to see an internal candidate stand out as the top choice for this position. Anita has a deep understanding of the richness and reach of Canadian cinema – and especially that of Francophone cinema.
