VIACOMCBS LICENCES “THE GREAT” IN MULTIPLE TERRITORIES

ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group announced that it has reached a number of international licensing agreements for MRC Television’s highly anticipated series “The Great” from Oscar-nominated writer Tony McNamara (The Favourite). “The Great” is scheduled to premiere in the U.S. on Hulu May 15th.
 
The series has been licensed in territories around the world including STARZPLAY (UK, Ireland, German Europe, French Europe, Italian Europe, Spain, Benelux, Latin America, Brazil), Channel 4 (UK), Stan (Australia), HBO (Portugal, Baltics, Central Eastern Europe, Nordic), Sky (New Zealand), CJ ENM (Korea), OSN (Middle East and North Africa), more.tv (Russia and CIS) and Quebecor Content (Canada).
  
“The Great” is a satirical, comedic drama about the rise of Catherine the Great from outsider to the longest-reigning female ruler in Russia's history. With only occasional historical facts the series stars Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult, Phoebe Fox, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Sacha Dhawan, Sebastian de Souza, Bayo Gbadamosi and Belinda Bromilow.
 
The series is created, written and executive produced by McNamara and executive produced by Marian Macgowan, Thruline’s Josh Kesselman and Ron West, Echo Lake’s Brittany Kahan Ward, Doug Mankoff, and Andrew Spaulding, Elle Fanning, Mark Winemaker and Matt Shakman. The project is produced by Civic Center Media in association with MRC Television.
