VICE Studios announces a deal with Netflix and a new hire

VICE Studios, the global production division of VICE Media Group, continues to grow its footprint in Latin America with the announcement of a new global commission for Netflix: six-part food series “La Divina Gula” (‘Heavenly Bites’). The show is a culinary journey through Mexico that follows the characters who have created the most eccentric and delicious flavors, by mixing their ingenuity with their passion for food.

“La Divina Gula” is created by Juan Márquez, Nacho Gil and Laura Woldenberg. The series is narrated by Memo Villegas, executive produced by Laura Woldenberg, produced by Ivonne Gutiérrez, and edited by Joaquín Celaa. Carlos Correa serves as cinematographer.

As the business looks to expand its offering across both unscripted and scripted content with a focus on Latinx stories, the studio has also appointed Edgar Jaramillio as Senior Director, Unscripted. Jaramillio will oversee production operations in Latin America and will be responsible for growing VICE Studios’ non-scripted content pipeline in the region as well as developing and producing content focused on Latinx audiences. Jaramillo is based in Los Angeles and reports to Danny Gabai, Head of VICE Studios US.
