The premium Spanish-language streaming service Pantaya has acquired the comedy series “Ana” from Viacom International Studios (VIS) starring international star Ana De La Reguera (Narcos, Starz’s Power, Goliath), which is set to launch on the platform early next year.

Created, written, produced and starred by renowned Mexican actress, Ana de la Reguera, “Ana” tells the story of the daughter of a Mexican beauty queen who tries to attain fame as an actress in Hollywood while fighting the passage of time and the weight of her mother’s unfulfilled dreams. The series explores how Ana has lived a life ruled by appearances as she searches for the iconic acting role that will finally allow her to triumph. Will she find her true self in the process or will she finally accept that she is much more like her mother than she cares to admit?

“This acquisition completes the first cycle of content distribution for VIS in Americas,” commented Guillermo Borensztein, VP of Content Sales and Co-Productions of VIS. “Following our deals with Amazon and Comedy Central Latin America for the series, we are happy to reach the US Hispanic market by way of this agreement. Working with great partners like PANTAYA not only expands our reach but also reinforces our position as industry leaders in development, production and distribution of premium content.”

“We are very excited to bring Ana to U.S. and Puerto Rico audiences exclusively through PANTAYA. We are a big fan of Ana de la Reguera, her unique creative voice and her incredible work. This series is a perfect addition to our lineup of bold and exciting premium content featuring A-list talent,” said Mario Almeida, VP of Programming, Development, and Acquisitions at PANTAYA who negotiated the deal for the platform.
