NENT GROUP TO LAUNCH VIAPLAY ORIGINAL “KIN”

The drama series is produced by BRON Studios and Headline Pictures, in association with RTÉ, NENT Group, and Creative Wealth Media with support from Screen Ireland and BAI. The company is set to premiere at least 40 of its original productions in 2021

Nordic Entertainment Group is set to premier its drama series “Kin” as its next Viaplay Original. It will debut on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service in 2021.  “This premium production contains everything a high-quality drama should: a well-written script, a story that captures grief, love, pain and the sacred bond between humans, presented by an extremely talented team both in front of and behind the camera," Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer, said.

"Kin" is produced by BRON Studios and Headline Pictures, in association with RTÉ, NENT Group, and Creative Wealth Media with support from Screen Ireland and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI). ‘Kin’ is currently filming in Ireland and is expected to premiere on Viaplay by the end of 2021. “Kin’ will be a great addition to our strong line up of International Originals this year and I can’t wait until we can release it to our consumers,” Wallestam said.

NENT Group is set to premiere at least 40 of its original productions in 2021, and the company is stepping up its investment in international original content. The international Viaplay Originals "The Head" and the "The Defeated" have already premiered on Viaplay and the forthcoming international series is "The Box," "Close to Me," "The Swarm," and "Margeaux."

The eight-episode long series showcases Charlie Cox, Clare Dunne and BAFTA-nominated actor Aidan Gillen  in the leading roles. The story charts the lives of a fictional Dublin family embroiled in a gangland war and speaks to the enduring unbreakable bonds of blood and family. ‘Kin’ is written by critically acclaimed author Peter McKenna and the impressive cast includes both Irish and international actors led by Charlie Cox, breakthrough Irish actress Clare Dunne, Aidan Gillen, Ciarán Hinds,Sam Keeley, Emmett Scanlan, Maria Doyle Kennedy  and newcomer Yasmin Seky.
