Conecta Fiction & Entertainment has unveiled the 30 international projects selected by its editorial committees to participate in the five pitching sessions that will be part of the event’s ninth edition, set to take place at the Teatro Auditorio José Luis Perales and the Hospedería del Seminario in Cuenca (Castilla-La Mancha), from June 16 to 19.
The organization evaluated a total of 438 projects, marking a 38% increase compared to last year. This rise is partly due to the strong response to the newly launched Pitch Direct to Streaming Movies category, introduced this year for the first time for film projects intended for direct release on streaming platforms. This new section received 188 submissions, surpassing the more established Pitch Copro Series, which accumulated 181 applications.
As for the projects’ origins, they come from 39 different countries. A breakdown by continent shows that 68% are from European countries (led by Portugal, France, Ukraine, and Italy, in addition to Spain), 31% come from the Americas (with Argentina, Colombia, Chile, and Mexico leading), and the remaining 1% originated from Asia.
The finalist projects will be eligible for various awards during the forum’s ninth edition. The full list of awards and their details will be revealed during the awards ceremony on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 18.
Among this year’s awards are several of Conecta’s recurring honors, such as the Triodos Bank Award, offering a €3,000 cash prize; the G.E.M.A Pitch Perfect Award, which grants two one-year professional memberships to The Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Arts & Sciences (G.E.M.A.), valued at $1,200, plus an exclusive global access pass providing free entry to any G.E.M.A. event in 2025, virtual or in person (valued at $2,500); the Acorde Award, which includes access to and use of their music catalog for the pilot episodes of two selected projects; and the PRODU Award, which gives all category winners a one-year subscription to the PRODU media platform, along with two years of editorial coverage following the progress of the winning projects.
In parallel, thanks to long-standing partnerships between Conecta and other international events, a selection of projects will also be chosen to participate in professional forums across the global audiovisual industry. This strategy aims to maximize financing opportunities by exposing the projects to diverse audiences and markets. Returning partner events include TV Drama Vision Göteborg (Sweden), SANFIC Industria (Chile), Bogotá Audiovisual Market – BAM (Colombia), and Serial Killer (Czech Republic). New partners joining for the first time this year are Rio2C (Brazil) and Abycine Lanza (Spain).
