Three successful Globo productions are the highlight of the 6th edition of Series Mania Rendez-Vous, a digital initiative that presents great content focused on the French market: the Globoplay Original Series ‘Where My Heart Is’, a family drama involving drug use recently released by the company, and 'Under Pressure’, a medical thriller that exposes the dramatic reality of public health in Brazil; as well as the International Emmy-winning big hit 'Hidden Truths’, in a new series version.
The episode, available at https://seriesmania.com/ forum/en/series-mania-rendez- vous/, counts on the participation of Angela Colla, Head of International Sales at Globo, Mauro Mendonça Filho, director of Hidden Truths’, Lucas Paraizo, author of 'Under Pressure’, and Luísa Lima, director of ‘Where My Heart Is’, as well as moderation by François-Pier Pelinard Lambert, from Le Film Français. During the episode, the executives bring details and differentials of the three super productions.
"France is a very important market for Globo - we have a history of relationship with the biggest players in the country and a vast catalog of productions dubbed in French, including Globoplay Original series: compelling stories, able to thrill and create identification and connection with the French audience. And, in line with our strategy, Series Mania becomes a key platform for the presentation and reinforcement of our series - a successful partnership that we have been betting on for a few years now," says Angela Colla, Head of International Sales at Globo.
The Globoplay Original Series ‘Where My Heart Is’ tells the details of the dramatic story of a family that struggles to recover their daughter who got involved with drugs, bringing to light the profound issue of chemical dependency and the problems that affect the entire family. The production, which was launched last May 4th in Brazil on the Globoplay platform, is the series with the best premiere in consumption of hours considering the first 24 hours on the platform.
Another highlight is the Globoplay Original Series ‘Under Pressure’, available in French dubbed version, which over three seasons shows the daily life of doctors who must face the harsh reality of a chaotic environment and overcome adversity to keep patients alive. The shooting took place in deactivated areas of a public hospital, making the plot even more realistic. Real cases, raised from an immersion of the author Jorge Furtado and his team of scriptwriters in the public health system of Rio de Janeiro, inspired the creation of impressive stories that bring up subjects of extreme importance to society, such as abuse, suicide, AIDS, mistreatment and negligence. The series has already received four awards from France's International Festival of Audiovisual Programs (FIPA), also known as the Biarritz Festival, one of the most important TV awards in Europe, in 2018.
While ‘Hidden Truths’, a production that was re-released in a new series version on MIPTV, is a plot that explores the limits of each person when the subject is obsession, money and pleasure. At the heart of the story is a beautiful young woman full of dreams, Angel (Camila Queiroz), who, willing to become a model, gets involved in a prostitution scheme and meets a powerful and obsessive businessman, letting herself get carried away by a dark reality that goes far beyond the catwalk. The production is available as a 50-episode super series for Free TV/Pay TV and a 12-episode series focusing on digital platforms. The second season is already confirmed for 2021.
Series Mania Rendez-Vous - Globoplay Original Series will also be available virtually during Series Mania, which takes place from August 30 to September 1st.
