“Patria”, the first Spanish series of HBO Europe, will have its world premiere at the Series Mania festival that will take place from March 20 to 28 in Lille, France. The production of eight episodes is a creation of Aitor Gabilondo and is based on the best-seller written by Fernando Aramburu.

"Patria" takes place over three decades in an Euskadi (Basque Country) threatened by the terrorist group ETA, through the eyes of two families divided because of the separatist conflict. The life of Bittori (Elena Irureta) and her family completely changes the day ETA murders her husband, Txato (José Ramón Soroiz), at the door of her house. Broken relations with the family of her friend Miren (Ane Gabarain), whose son militates on the terrorist side, everyone will have to deal with grief and moral contradictions while life goes its own way.

“Patria” is an original production of HBO Europe, with the participation of HBO Latin America and was produced by Alea Media. The mini series is directed by Félix Viscarret and Óscar Pedraza with executive production by Miguel Salvat and Steve Matthews for HBO Europe.
