MIA Market has revealed its program’s highlights that include unmissable round tables, talks, and interesting panels and keynotes that will take place from October 14th to 18th in Barberini Palace and on the MIA Digital Platform.

Four forerunner Italian producers and Teresa Moneo, Netflix’s Director of International Original Film for Spain and Italy, share their experiences and best practices on what developing original films for the streaming services means, what the influences on the storytelling, the reshaping of business and creative models.

Big – Budget Investments Outside US featuring amazing line-up speakers: Gangs of London producer’ Thomas Benski (Pulse Films), Erik Barmack (CEO and Founder of Wild Sheep Content), STARZ’ EVP International Digital Networks Superna Kalle, and Game of Thrones Executive Producer’ Vince Gerardis. In this session top buyers and producers will be discussing the development and production challenges affecting the current international drama landscape, with digital platforms opening up in Europe their production slate, exploring why digital streaming giant will make big-budget show on an international scale outside US.
6.30 pm – 7.15 pm Drama Talk: The Producer’s Keynote. In conversation with Media Res’ Michael Ellenberg
One of the most prominent Hollywood producers, Michael Ellenberg, Founder and CEO of Media Res will be the protagonist of the first “Drama Producer’s Keynote”. Media Res is a studio and production company, which develops, produces, and finances premium quality TV series and feature films. Michael was previously the Head of Drama at HBO and commissioned critically acclaimed series such as "Westworld", "Big Little Lies, "True Detective", "The Young Pope" and "The Leftovers".
FRIDAY 16TH
2.00 pm-2.45 pm Drama & Doc Talk: Amazon Studios in Conversation, Italian Scripted and Unscripted Originals
In this Amazon Studios focused session, Italian heads of Originals, Nicole Morganti, and of Scripted Originals, Davide Nardini, will set out their local and collaborative original content strategies updating attendees on what the Italian team has been focused on over the past months as well as looking ahead to the next. They will also discuss how Amazon Studios is positioning itself across the local landscape and reveal opportunities for collaboration discussing the types of programming Amazon Studios are looking to commission locally and updating on the Studios latest requirements.

The Alliance between the three public European Broadcasters RAI (Italy), FRANCE TÉLÉVISIONS (France), and ZDF (Germany), will announce the kick-off of the shootings and will introduce the main cast of the mystery drama series "Survivors".

Stephen Cornwell, co-founder and co-CEO at The Ink Factory and he executive produced the AMC mini-series "The Little Drummer Girl", and the award-winning "The Night Manager"; he co-wrote and produced the Netflix Original "Message from the King"; he produced Ang Lee’s movie Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk", A Most Wanted Man, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, and also "Hotel Artemis", starring Jodie Foster.
SATURDAY 17TH
5.30 pm-6.30 pm Drama Talk: The Black Experience: Creating community and diversity in the scripted industry
MIA DRAMA in collaboration with DiversifyTV is curating an engaging & authentic virtual and live event featuring professionals currently working in the drama space. In this session producers, Talent and key players from the audio-visual market will engage in a powerful conversation about how the Black Lives Matters movement has highlighted the importance of Black Content. They will discuss compelling recent narratives about the Black Experience and look at how the international content community has responded to the message.
Speakers: Media Mogul form Nigeria’s Ebonylife, Mo Abudu; Tom Hardy’ Taboo Executive Producer Erica Motley; African-French artist, Nicholle Kobi who teamed up with one of the most visionary producers, Erik Barmack, for the development and production of two animation series, Queens and La Femme Noire (for Netflix and BET), based on Nicholle’s drawings inspired by Black women from around the world.
