Returning to physical format in 2021, MIP Cancún this year welcomes 4 companies from Russia. The 8th edition of the market will highlight Art Pictures Distribution, the RT TV network, SMF Animation Studio and Project First animation companies.

"Latin American audience loves Russian content: our horror movies, animation, and costume dramas have gained the highest popularity in the region. Moreover, this summer, Brazilian distributor BF Distribution has announced the first co-production with Russian company Central Partnership — they will jointly produce a horror movie 'Schizophrenic'. This is a large-scale project for our industry, and we hope that MIP Cancún will contribute to the further development of partnership between Russia and Latin America. It is especially important that this year in Mexico, Russian delegation presents content of different genres — SMF Animation Studio and Project First will present their animation projects, Art Pictures Distribution will show a wide range of series, and RT, which has been successfully broadcasting in Spanish-speaking territories for a long time, will present TV shows and documentary projects within its own showcase," says Alexandra Modestova, CEO of Expocontent (the official representative of MIP Cancún in Russia, Ukraine and CIS).

On November, 18, 2021 RT will host its RT Showcase & Snack Lunch at MIP Cancún to present two of its new projects. RT en Español anchor and reporter Aliana Nieves will present its documentary film, "Oaxaca’s Black Gold: the Poisoned Gift" ("El oro negro de Oaxaca: un regalo envenenado"), which addresses the environmental impact of the oil production on the life quality in Oaxaca in South Mexico.  At the market, RT is looking to attract new partners and cable networks to distribute its content, as well as to discuss opportunities for joint projects with the key players in the region, collaborate with the new broadcast players on the market and with online platforms.

Art Pictures Distribution will present two sport dramas "Rugby" and "Lanky Girls", family comedy series "Oligarch's Wife and Brothers", the 5th season of the "Ivanovs vs Ivanovs" series, the "Parental committee" comedy series, as well as the evergreen bestseller "The Kitchen", which has been sold as a format to many countries.Art Pictures Distribution plans to expand the geography of sales and continue negotiations with partners offline.

At MIP Cancún, Project First will participate with the "Leo the Truck" series, which introduces geometric shapes and counting skills to preschoolers, and an entertaining animated series about toy cars "Mocas — Little Monster Cars".The company plans to implement the rights to its projects that have already won an audience in Latin America, and find distributors for the flagship project "Mocas — Little Monster Cars" (project’s rights have already been sold to several regions).

SMF Animation Studio will show a number of projects to Latin American buyers: an upper pre-school comedy series "Meow Magic" about the girl and her pet cat, an adventure-comedy series "Coolics" about a team of young cadets in the Space Academy, an animated series "The Adventures of Peter and Wolf" which takes the heroes on comedic adventures to a parallel universe, the "Monsikids" series — a story of a group of young monsters navigating different locations based on their emotions and feelings, and a music driven preschool show "Rockoons".

SMF’s main goal at MIP Cancún is finding local partners for content distribution and co-production partners for new projects, such as an upper preschool comedy "Loodleville", which was selected as one of the 5 finalists of the MIPJunior Project Pitch and presented in Cannes.
