Nem Dubrovnik 2024 defines full agenda: Synergy of content, Telcos and technology

BBC Studios, Croatian Telecom, SkyShowtime, WBD, Disney, Amazon MGM Studios Distribution and Lionsgate will be some of the companies that will take part of the CEE market.

NEM Dubrovnik revealed the full agenda for its 2024 edition, being held from June 10th to 13th in Hotel Dubrovnik Palace, hosting representatives from more than 260 companies. Major US and European studios and companies will dominate the four-day event, joined by prominent keynote speakers representing the leading brands in the TV industry.

Bartosz Witak, the newly appointed General Manager, Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Region, BBC Studios, will share his vision for BBC Studios in the region, insights into the evolving media landscape, and the strategies driving the company’s success. Nataša Rapaić, appointed CEO of Croatian Telecom from July 1st, 2024, will share her vision for the future of telco industry, ranging from innovative strategies to enhancing connectivity and delivering premium content to insights into the evolving landscape of telecommunications and entertainment, along with her experiences on the journey to the CEO role.

In addition, Monty Sarhan, CEO, SkyShowtime will bring insights from SkyShowtime's recent milestone—the launch of their ad-supported plan across all 20+ markets, including Central and Eastern Europe and Jamie Cooke, Group SVP and GM Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, Warner Bros. Discovery will reveal how WBD ambitiously plans to establish Max as one of the top 3 streaming services in the next 3-5 years.

More than 70 speakers have confirmed their presence at 10 panel sessions where they will discuss topics about the importance of content. These topics will also be attractive to more than 145 of the most relevant buyers from Central and Eastern Europe who have confirmed their attendance.

During the “content is king” discussions, panelists will debate: The latest and most innovative approaches to content acquisitions, sponsored by Prva TV; the influence of linear TV on the CEE’s media landscape, and it being reshaped as digital platforms continue to rise in prominence, sponsored by Moonbug; strategies for global success of CEE content, sponsored by NEM Zagreb; The rise of streaming partnerships due to cost-effective business, quality content, and viewership; methods of attracting audiences in the region and the formula for the next hit format - should we produce or reproduce? ; TV operators changing the industry daily by entering the streaming space and bundling their streaming services and channels.

Panel sessions will put technology in focus and panelists will discuss: Easy access to a global pool of content for broadcasters who want to monetize on live content, sponsored by SES; Strategic integration of digital platforms, data analytics implementation, interactive features, expanded content distribution, social media integration, partnerships, innovation investment, and agile decision-making, sponsored by Wurl; The future of advertising in the CEE region evolving as FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) and AVOD (Advertising-supported Video on Demand) services gain popularity and begin incorporating ads into their platforms; The benefits of educated decisions for product, content, and advertisement, sponsored by NPAW and Backscreen.

Gcore will present how they elevated sports broadcaster’s streaming experience, enhancing engagement and quality though AI features, and about upcoming developments that promise to further revolutionize live streaming. Tech company Answers will present their new platform for interacting with the audience, which allows for the creation of interactive content and activating audiences, giving more to advertisers and broadcasters. Tech company will highlight the latest innovations in content delivery and explore state-of-the-art techniques and tools designed to meet the demands of modern broadcasting.

Artificial intelligence will naturally be present as a ubiquitous and essential topic, and its future will be presented by top industry experts from companies Omdia, PlumResearch and Maria Valenzuela, senior Media Executive. Eutelsat Group will present how the company is becoming ever stronger in the resilient DTH market of Central Europe, and how innovative new content and services are creating valuable opportunities for broadcasters and media groups.

All3Media's IDTV will present their strategic approach and showcase their content like hit "The Traitors", long-running formats like "Lingo" or their latest format "The Unknown". New and exciting hit crime/thriller "Extractors" will be presented by Keshet International and TV NOVA/VOYO. Amazon MGM Studios Distribution will showcase its upcoming programming slate, Lionsgate will showcase highlights of their content coming up for the CEE markets and Disney will introduce a slate of US TV Series spanning a variety of sub-genres.
