"The Medalists," an OPTO SIC original series produced by SP Televisão, was awarded Bronze in the Streaming Drama category at the prestigious New York Festivals—TV & Film Awards. After being shortlisted, "The Medalists" has now won a place on the podium of these renowned international awards, consolidating the quality of our fiction production across borders." The Medalists" is available on OPTO SIC and Prime Video.

It was the only Portuguese television and streaming production included in this year's winners' list, standing out among hundreds of international entries. This achievement joins OPTO's history of award-winning titles in these awards, such as "The General", "The Good Girls Club", "Lucia of Fatima", and "PRAXX". The series explores the backstage of the competitive world of youth Olympic sport, following a group of young athletes in a high-performance academy. The main cast features Joana Cravo, João Maneira, João Bettencourt, and Paula Magalhães, as well as renowned actors such as Paula Lobo Antunes, Luis Esparteiro, and Custódia Gallego.

The first season of" The Medalists", with 26 episodes, premiered on OPTO in December 2023 and was later released on Prime Video in 2024, expanding the international reach of this Portuguese production. The New York Festivals—TV & Film Awards honors the world's best television and film productions annually with a Grand Jury panel of more than 200 industry experts from over 30 countries. The winners were announced yesterday at the virtual event, Storytellers Gala.
