Series Mania Festival revealed its awards winners and event stats

The hybrid event had a total of 2500 participants from 66 different countries, and 50,000 visits on the platform. "Blackport" and "Fisk" are among the winner series.

Series Mania unveiled its awards at the closing ceremony. “Given the fantastic response we have received the last few days, we can say with certainty Series Mania was a tremendous success and far exceeded our expectations. Our numbers speak for themselves: we had over 54,000 participants as part of the Series Mania Festival, and for the Series Mania Forum,  the in-person event had a total of 2,100 participants, with over 400 online registrations, which combined for a total 2500 participants from 66 different countries, and 50,000 visits on the platform,” commented Laurence Herszberg, Founder and General Director of Series Mania.  “Additionally, we are delighted to announce that two of our big winners tonight, ‘Blackport’ and ‘The Last Socialist Artefact’, were originally pitched at our Forum’s Co-Pro Pitching Sessions, once again reinforcing the fact that Series Mania is the place ‘where series begin’.”

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
In Series Mania, were awarded 3 prizes among the 8 series presented in world or international premiere in the presence of their teams. The Grand prize was for "Blackport" (Iceland), created by Gísli Örn Gardarsson, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Nina Dögg Filippusdóttir; produced by Vesturport, Rüv, ARTE France, Turbine Studios - Broadcasting: Rüv; aired by ARTE and globally distributed by About Premium Content
 
Marie Reuther won the Best Actress award for "Kamikaze"(Denmark), produced by Profile Pictures, aired on HBO Max and WarnerMedia international TV Distribution is in charge of the International Sales; while Itamar Rotschild, Orr Amrami and Shmuel Vilozni won the best actor prize for "The Echo of your Voice" (Israel), created, written and directed by Tom Shoval.  

INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA

This first International Panorama jury awarded 3 prizes among the 15 series presented in French, European and world premieres: "The Last Socialist Artefact" (Croatia) won the prize of Best Series. It was produced by Kinorama with the distribution of HRT, Pro Plus. (Originally pitched at Series Mania Forum’s Co-Pro Pitching Sessions)

The Special Jury Prize was for "Vida De Colores" (Colombia), created and directed by David David; produced and distributed by Garabato Cine.
 
The Best Series - Student Award was for "We Are Lady Parts" (United Kingdom), created, written and directed by Nida Manzoor under the production of Working Title Television and with NBCUniversal Global Distribution in charge of the International Sales. The series will be available exclusively on BrutX from September 15, and wonderfully uses sitcom codes to immerse us in the daily lives of five endearing young musicians who will stop at nothing to make their friendship triumph, ignoring the weight of patriarchy and traditions.


FRENCH COMPETITION

The international press jury awarded 4 prizes among the 6 French series presented in the World Premiere in the presence of their teams. The Best Series prize was for "Jeune Et Golri", created by Agnès Hurstel, Victor Saint Macary, Léa Domenach, produced by The Film TV, 6Bony and globally distributed by LS Distribution, Mediawan

Ariane Labed won the Best Actress award for "L'Opéra", created by Cécile Ducrocq and Benjamin Adam under the production of Victoria Production (Label de Newen France), Orange Studio, Belga Productions, Proximus and globally sold by Newen Connect.

The Best Actor prize was for Daniel Njo Lobé for "The Code", a creation of Lionel Olenga, Cécile Even and Nicolas Robert, produced by Makingprod, L.O. Productions and the Best Music award was for PIERRE LEROUX  (Pierre III) for "Jeune et Golri".  

COMEDY COMPETITION
In this category, the Best Series was "Fisk" (Australia), created by Kitty Flanagan and Vincent Sheehan produced by Porchlight Films; aired by ABC TV (Australia) and distributed by ABC Entertainment Group. Flanagan said “I’m absolutely thrilled, especially when you look at the competition, we were certainly the scrappy underdog in the fight. It’s incredibly satisfying to learn that our Australian comedy proved to be relevant (and, more importantly, funny) to an international audience. Fist bumps all round to the entire cast and crew.”



On the short competition was awarded "Something Undone" (Canada) as Best Series. It was created and written by Michael Musi and Madison Walsh and produced by 4AM Film Studios LTD. Finally, the Audience Award was for "Germinal" (France) created by Julien Lilti, based on the novel by Emile Zola. The production was in charge of Banijay Studios France, in co-production with Pictanovo with the support of the Hauts-de-France region and Banijay Rights handles the international sales.
