On March 21, the Series Mania Forum will officially begin, running until March 23. The international audiovisual event started last Friday in Lille, France, with its Festival, and will run until March 24. Last year, Series Mania brought together more than 70.000 participants for the Festival and 3.300 accredited persons on-site from 64 countries for the the Forum, and now expects to welcome 3800 participants.

One of the highlights of this year is the first edition of the creative initiative SeriesMakers, led by Series Mania and supported by Beta Group, which has concluded with overwhelming success: from more than 170 submissions by A-list filmmakers from 54 countries, ten TV series projects have participated in a tailor-made program for feature film directors who venture into the world of series.

The three winning projects will be announced in Lille during the Series Mania Forum. Two projects will each be awarded a €50.000 Beta Development Award working closely with Beta Group’s Content Division to develop the pilot script and a full package. An additional award of €20.000, courtesy of the Kirch Foundation in collaboration with the University of Television and Film Munich, will be given to a third project.

The event will also offer a line-up of guests and speakers to attend the 2023 Lille Dialogues, set for March 23. This one-day summit brings together European lawmakers and international TV industry leaders to encourage joint reflection on the challenges facing the industry and to promote international cooperation. The event is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the CNC, and the European Commission.

Meanwhile, an initiative launched in 2021 will be repeated this year, and Nicola Shindler, Executive Producer and Chief Executive of Quay Street Productions, will be the recipient for the third annual Woman in Series Award. This recognition, in association with European Women’s Audiovisual Network and Pour Les Femmes Dans Les Médias (PFDM), is given to a remarkable woman from the audiovisual industry to honor her vision and leadership.
