Independent distributor All3Media International has signed deals in key territories for new series “Critical Incident.” The acquisitions will see the psychological crime thriller from Matchbox Pictures heading to the US. Streaming service Hulu will exclusively debut all episodes of “Critical Incident” later this year.
“Critical Incident,” which premiered on Stan in Australia in August and was produced in association with All3Media International, is now set to debut in the US, with Hulu acquiring streaming rights to the six-part drama. The series was also acquired by New Zealand on TVNZ. Delving into the complex world of policing, this contemporary crime drama is inspired by creator Sarah Bassiuoni’s real-life experiences working as a lawyer in Western Sydney’s juvenile justice system.
Jennifer Askin, SVP North America at All3Media International, commented: “In ‘Critical Incident,’ Matchbox Pictures and creator Sarah Bassiuoni have delivered an authentic, nuanced portrayal of the realities of policing and criminality in the suburbs of a major city. While Zil and Dalia’s story unfolds in the distinctive setting of Western Sydney, it depicts complexities and consequences of policing and being policed that are highly relevant around the world. Brought to screen by an acclaimed creative team, and with outstanding performances from a cast of new and established talent, this is a powerful and provocative drama that will enthral audiences, and we’re very pleased to start its international journey.”
While on patrol for a teenage suspect, Senior Constable Zilficar ‘Zil’ Ahmed (Khanna) pursues Dalia (Boe), and in the chaos and confusion of the pursuit, a bystander is critically injured. Zil’s world comes crashing down when he discovers Dalia was in fact not the perpetrator. The immense guilt over the bystander’s injuries, coupled with the pressure of the critical incident investigation and the public scrutiny, creates an unbearable burden for Zil. Encouraged by his brothers in blue, Zil becomes obsessed with pinning something on Dalia.
Moreover, All3Media International has signed its first round of pre-sales with broadcasters for "Trump: The Criminal Conspiracy Case," the upcoming feature-length documentary from 72 Films. Produced for the BBC, in association with All3Media International, "Trump: The Criminal Conspiracy Case" is scheduled to premiere on BBC Two in the UK on October 23. The documentary is now also set to air in territories across Europe following acquisitions by DR (Denmark), NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden), Movistar Plus+ (Spain, Spanish-speaking Andorra) and VRT (Flemish-speaking Belgium). Broadcast rights have also been acquired by Nine Network in Australia, and NOW TV Hong Kong.
"Trump: The Criminal Conspiracy Case" follows the biggest criminal case against Donald Trump, which accuses him of spearheading a wide-ranging conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election result. Told with 72 Films’ trademark high-quality storytelling, and with access to people on both sides of the case including Trump’s co-defendants, the film reveals prosecutors' unprecedented effort to bring former President Trump to justice - before he has a chance to return to the White House.
Rachel Job, SVP Unscripted Content at All3Media International, commented: “72 Films is renowned for creating insightful, premium documentaries exploring the stories that shape our world, and this latest film takes viewers straight to the heart of one of the most extraordinary chapters in US politics. As election day approaches and events in the US continue to grab global attention, these latest deals for 'Trump: The Criminal Conspiracy Case' will give audiences in Europe, Asia and Australia a timely and unmissable opportunity to take a deep dive into the secrets, scandals and conflicts behind the headlines.”
