Berlinale 2023: Nicely Entertainment to launch a new slate of films

The company will host the global premier of its horror thriller, “Bad Connection." It has already secured various global deal for titles included in the catalog, such as "A Royal in Paradise" with Italia Film in MENA, M6 in France and Funwood in Italy, among others.

Nicely Entertainment unveiled details about its first-ever exhibition at Berlinale’s EFM, during which it will debut ten brand new films including the world premiere of the horror thriller film "Bad Connection," starring Dana Davis and Chris Gann. The company has already closed several international deals for its line-up ahead of the event, including "A Royal in Paradise" with Italia Film in MENA, M6 in France and Funwood in Italy, a 10-picture package led by Love by Design with DBS-YES (Israel) and multiple pre-sales on Nicely’s first ever disaster film Super Icyclone, including Smart Media (Germany), Funwood (Italy) and Canada.

The EFM Line-Up includes various Holiday titles, such as the Holiday Romances, "The Christmas Checklist," which follows grieving daughter discovers a red envelope from her mom with a final request: complete a 12-item checklist before Christmas, the last item being “Find Love," the 90-minute film, "A Perfect Christmas Pairing" which shows as chef Grace collides with a travel writer who helps her appreciate her family’s Christmas traditions while hiding out at her family’s winery following a bad review, and "The Art Of Christmas, also 90 minutes. Other romance titles includes "Dance of the Heart," which tells the story of a successful but dissatisfied financial executive discovers the missing passion in her life when she starts taking secret hula lessons while on assignment in Hawaii, "Love By Design," a romance that shows the time when Brooke makes her 30th birthday wish on the vision board she made as a hopeful teen, her wishes start coming true – from launching a business to meeting the man of her dreams, and "A Tiny Home Christmas," which stars the character Blair as she save her family's contracting business, teaming up with her ex-boyfriend to build a tiny home project, rekindling old sparks in time for Christmas.

Other titles included in the slate is "Bad Connection," which shows a young waitress purchases a stolen cell phone, she soon finds herself on the run from a madman hunter hellbent on getting it back 7. Directed by Jake Helgren, the movie will have its worldwide premiere in Berlin at Kino Arsenal 2 on Monday 20th February at 6pm followed by a second screening at Virtual Cinema 3 on Tuesday February 21st at 5:30pm. The programs join "A Royal in Paradise," a romance title about a pop fiction writer takes a post-breakup vacation and falls for one of her fans — only to find out that he’s actually a Prince, the Young Adult, Adventure, Family title, "Dive Club," following regular teenagers as they navigate life, friendship, and romance, but under the water these skilled divers enter a whole new world of adventure, and and the 8K / IMAX documentary, "Beyond the Reef," which features Shuang Hu as he shows viewers the landscape of Far North Queensland, world-renowned for the Great Barrier Reef and its precious ecosystems.

The slate is revealed shortly after Nicely Entertainment confirmed the expansion of its US executive team with the appointment of former Reel One Entertainment executive producer David Hickey to the newly created position of Head of Production. The position will be based in Arizona, with a focus on overseeing Nicely’s new Arizona-based mini-studio. The first film under David’s remit will be "Mysteries of the Heart." The company's Paris-based Vice President of International Sales, Rachel Siegenthaler, will be representing the company throughout the market. Siegenthaler, previously with TF1, joined Nicely in mid-2022 with the remit to manage Nicely’s growing sales in EMEA and Asia. At Berlinale, Siegenthaler will manage sales on Nicely’s slate of content debuting at the market.
