DFW International unveils its latest slate addition, "Bittersweet Sixteen"

The high school film, written by 15-year-old Anna Verheyen, is set to be screen at EFM on 10-17 February 2022.

DFW International has added Belgian high school film, "Bittwersweet Sixteen" to its content slate. The film is scheduled to be screened at EFM on 10-17 February 2022.

The film is written by 15-year-old Anna Verheyen and is based on her own experiences. Anna co-directed the film with her parents, the renowned directors duo Jan Verheyen and Lien Willaert. The title is full of spirit, humor, and familiar situations and characters which will appeal to anyone who is now- or ever has been- young.
 
Lotte is 15 and looking forward to her sixteenth birthday party. She’s had a difficult year. Her self-esteem has been damaged by a toxic friendship with Astrid, the school’s überbabe and leader of the popular girls. At home, there’s an unexpected development: her parents are separating. In the meantime, hormones are raging, bashful love is budding, sexual identities are being explored and existential dilemmas confronted.
