DFW International recently highlighted the success it garnered from its title, “Yasmine’s Wedding,” which was recently nominated for a Golden Film Award in the Netherlands, and “SilverStar,” which has also secured deals across the globe following its market screening at the Marché du Film in Cannes.

“Yasmine’s Wedding” received the Award from the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund to celebrate the 100.000 viewers that have watched the romantic comedy of director Johan Nijenhuis. Yasmine’s Wedding is only the third Dutch film to be awarded with the Golden Film Award this year. DFW International is handling global sales for the title. The title follows Moroccan-Dutch Yasmine, who is torn between her family's expectations and her own ambitions. While she has her heart set on becoming a successful lawyer, her parents are only interested in when she is getting married.

The company also claims international success for its family adventure series, “Silverstar.” The title, based on the special friendship between a girl and her horse, will be released in Dutch cinemas this summer, but has already been sold internationally following its market screening at the Marché du Film in Cannes. According to a recent DFW release, the film will be shown in Italy, North America, Latin America and German speaking Europe, with more territories currently under negotiation. It has already been sold internationally to VMI Releasing (North America), Invisible Carpet (Italy) and Great Movies (Latin America). Dolphin Medien will be releasing the film in German speaking Europe.

The company also plans to debut “Sea Of Time” at this year’s Netherlands Film Festival, the 42nd edition of the event in Utrecht. The love drama, based on a true story,  tells the story of a young couple sailing around the world with their young son in the 1980s: head over heels in love, not a care in the world, full of dreams. It will premier worldwide on Wednesday 21 September. The film will have its domestic release on 13 October, with foreign sales being managed by DFW International. “We’re very honored that ‘Sea of Time’ is opening the Netherlands Film Festival,” says Kaap Holland producer Maarten Swart. “Theu Boermans and his team have made a compelling film from Marieke van der Pol’s brilliant script, and we can’t wait for the public to see it.”

“Sea of Time” is produced by Kaap Holland Film and Eyeworks Film & TV Drama, in cooperation with KRO-NCRV and Dutch FilmWorks. It is supported by Nederlands Filmfonds, Netherlands Film Production Incentive, CoBo Fonds, Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds, and Stichting Abraham Tuschinski Fonds.  “Theu Boermans’ ‘Sea of Time’ is a superbly exciting drama with an amazing cast,” Festival director Silvia van der Heiden said. “Everyone involved, from camera operators to sound designers, has done a fantastic job. This is an opening film that will touch a lot of hearts.”
