Digitoonz Spain officially inaugurated its headquarters in Madrid

The company strengthened ties between India and Spain in an institutional event, reaffirming its commitment to the European animation market.

Digitoonz Spain, part of Digitoonz Media & Entertainment, a leading international 2D and 3D animation studio headquartered in India with offices in the United States, celebrated the official opening of its new office in the Spanish capital at Invest in Madrid’s headquarters. This milestone marks a strategic step in the company’s expansion into the European animation industry.

Vikas Kumar, CEO and Founder of Digitoonz, and Maria Bonaria Fois, President of Digitoonz Spain, were joined by Luís Socías Uribe, Director General of Invest in Madrid; Shri Dinesh K. Patnaik, Ambassador of India; and Gonzalo Cabrera Martín, Director General of Culture and Creative Industries of the Community of Madrid. Among the attendees were key representatives from Spain’s audiovisual industry and institutions, including RTVE, the Spanish public television channel, the Academy of Television and Audiovisual Sciences and Arts, the Madrid Audiovisual Cluster, the Spain Film Commission, Diboos, Invest in Spain, and the University of Digital Technology and Art (UTAD).

During the event, Vikas Kumar shared his excitement for this new journey: “We have big plans for Digitoonz in Spain. We aim to grow the company by establishing a new studio, our third, alongside those in Kolkata and Noida. Spain has tremendous potential as a creative and technological hub, and I personally have a special connection to this country, which has proven to be the perfect place from which to drive Digitoonz’s expansion plans in Europe," he explained.

Meanwhile, Maria Bonaria Fois emphasized the company’s commitment to the region:We are an Indian company that has found in Madrid the perfect location to consolidate our expansion into Europe. We want to leverage the resources and strong infrastructure the country offers to continue growing. Our plan includes producing, co-producing, and creating a distribution catalog;" expressed.

On his part, Luís Socías Uribe highlighted:The arrival of Digitoonz in Madrid not only benefits all involved but also reinforces Madrid’s position as a key hub for audiovisual and animation production, consolidating its leadership in this strategic sector. Animation not only contributes significantly to the GDP but also drives the creation of highly specialized jobs and attracts international talent," he added.

Also, Gonzalo Cabrera Martín pointed out that projects like Digitoonz are crucial for the growth strategy of the Community of Madrid, recognizing India as a key partner in strengthening the entertainment industry: “The Industry Plan, which aims to transform and modernize the audiovisual sector, prioritizes animation, a strategic area for our region. In this context, India has become a crucial strategic ally, not only for its leadership in audiovisual production but also for the collaboration opportunities it offers to continue driving innovation and talent within the audiovisual industry," noted.

FInally, Ambassador Shri Dinesh K. Patnaik emphasized India’s position as a global leader in audiovisual production and highlighted the opportunities this collaboration represents: “This is the perfect moment for an Indian company like Digitoonz to establish itself in Spain, especially in Madrid, a vibrant and strategic city for the sector. It is the right time to foster co-productions in animation and video games, building a more connected and collaborative future. Spain has ceased to be just a tourist destination for India; it is now a true driver of business opportunities," explained.

During the presentation, Maria Bonaria Fois revealed that Digitoonz is already working on a major feature film project and mentioned the recent agreement with Morgana Studios, which positions both companies as co-owners of the YugiBao brand—a key project in their expansion strategy.
