Espresso Media International has acquired worldwide distribution rights for urgent call-to-action documentary "FINITE: The Climate of Change" (1x99’ / 1x52’). A directorial debut from filmmaker and activist Rich Felgate, “Finite” is a film that follows battles against fossil fuel corporations in two countries. In Germany, concerned citizens step forward to save the ancient Hambach forest from one of Europe’s largest coal mines. They form an unlikely alliance with a frustrated community in rural England who have spent 30 years fighting plans for a new opencast coal mine, and are forced into action to protect their homes.

The documentary recently made its world premiere at New Zealand’s Doc Edge film festival, followed by its North American premiere at the Light House International Film Festival and its European premiere at Germany’s 32nd Internationales Filmfest Emden-Norderney, where the film won the Focus Future Award. The title is leading Espresso slate this week at Sunny Side of the Doc and Sheffield Doc Fest.

"We could not be more thrilled to be partnering on 'FINITE' and distributing this powerful and essential documentary to the world,” says Jess Reilly, Head of Sales and Acquisitions at Espresso Media International. “Climate activists are often demonised in the press, but 'FINITE' intimately shares the stories of the brave individuals who put their lives on the line to protect our planet by directly confronting some of the world’s biggest fossil fuel companies. They show just how powerful collective direct action can be. Not only is it an inspiring and beautifully crafted film, but with time running out before climate catastrophe, it is urgent. It is an honour to be partnering with such a talented team of filmmakers. The stories of the Hambach Forest and Pont Valley climate activists are too important not to be shared, and we're grateful to the filmmakers for highlighting this inspiring story about courage, resiliency and the direct fight for climate justice.”

"We are delighted to be working with Espresso, who share our belief and passion that 'FINITE' is a film that urgently needs to be seen. As the climate emergency escalates for each and every one of us, this is a film which audiences around the world can relate to and a much-needed antidote to the inertia, anxiety and frustration so many of us feel about the lack of climate action we see from governments and corporations,” says Rich Felgate, director. “We're incredibly lucky to have Espresso's experience and expertise and on our side to ensure 'finite' and its timely message reaches the broadest audience possible."
