KO Distribution's latest short-form series "Paper Cuts" has won in the Foreign Francophone Competition at the 2025 Festival de la fiction in La Rochelle.
Produced by KOTV, directed by Sophia Belahmer and written by Erika Mathieu, the series follows Sasha, a long-time bachelorette who lives with her best friend, Raphaël. After yet another appointment with her gynecologist, Sasha receives news that turns her world upside down: Raphaël—her friend, her brother, her partner in crime—is leaving the apartment they’ve shared for almost 10 years to move in with Maude, his new girlfriend.
Shocked, Sasha puts on a brave face for her friend, despite the deep cut now tearing through her stomach, her head, her whole being: “Wow. I’m so happy for you two!” After Raphaël moves out, Sasha faces an empty room and a sadness no one really understands. She tries but struggles to fill the void left by his absence.
Launched in 2015, KO Distribution is the international distribution arm of KOTV. Since then, they have been dedicated to promoting the best of Canada’s creative industry worldwide.
