Leonine Studios has acquired rights to carry out all international sales for "The Seed." The 6-part thriller series is co-produced by Odeon Fiction, ARD Degeto, NRK Norway, and MIA Film. "The Seed" has been filming since 10 May, featuring various locations, including Spitsbergen in Norway, Munich in Germany, and Prague in the Czech Republic.
"The Seed" is a co-production of Odeon Fiction, ARD Degeto, NRK, and MIA Film. The service producer on Spitsbergen is PolarX AS. The executives overseeing the project are at ARD Degeto Christoph Pellander, SVP of drama, and Sebastian Lückel, Head of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, with Elisabeth Tangen overseeing for NRK. The producers are Odeon Fiction’s Britta Meyermann (“Spy City”) and Mischa Hofmann, with Ian Blumersserving as Director of photography.
The thriller series is directed by Alexander Dierbach, Axel Hellstenius, and Christian Jeltsch, who is also the creator and head writer, and wrote the screenplays. Heino Ferch and Ingrid Bolsø Berdal are starring in the lead roles. Rainer Bock, Jonathan Berlin, Seumas Sargent Erik Madsen und Friederike Becht complete the renowned international cast. Besides The Global Seed Vault, a backup hard drive of global nutrition and becomes the fascinating backdrop, the project is further supported by FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Creative Europe MEDIA of the European Union, the German Motion Picture Fund, and the Czech Tax Incentive. LEONINE Studios is handling international distribution.
"The Seed" follows German detective Max and Norwegian policewoman Thea, who are set out to find Max's missing nephew Victor (Jonathan Berlin) in Spitsbergen. It soon becomes apparent that his disappearance may be connected to the explosive takeover of a seed company that is the main subject of controversy in Brussels. Thea and Max plunge deeper and deeper into a web of intrigue and political interests that puts not only Victor's but also their own lives in danger.
