NBCUniversal Formats’ "Top Chef" has returned to Thailand for a new series. "'Top Chef'' continues to grow and entertain audiences around the world. We’re so thrilled to be partnering with Heliconia H Group, their unapparelled experience in creating the best cooking competition shows in Thailand makes them the perfect collaborators," Ana Langenberg, SVP Format Sales & Production, NBCUniversal Formats said. "We cannot wait for Thai audiences to experience all that this series has in store!”
"Top Chef Thailand" will be produced by Heliconia H Group in association with Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group. The deal will see the 15-part local series air every Sunday on Ch 7. The title is licensed globally by NBCUniversal Formats, and has been adapted in France, Canada, Middle East, Brazil, Vietnam, Spain and Indonesia, among others.
"Top Chef" sees a number of aspiring chefs face off in a battle of culinary skill. Each week the chefs undertake a series of challenges, which not only test their cooking prowess, but also their teamwork skills and stress endurance. In every episode, one chef has to pack up their knives and go home, until the last one standing is crowned Top Chef. Originally produced by Magical Elves, the Emmy award-winning series first premiered in 2006 on Bravo in the US. The recently announced 20th season will cross the pond to London for a very special 20th World All-Stars season with host Padma Lakshmi, head judge Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons, marking the first time that the flagship edition of “Top Chef” will shoot an entire season abroad
“As the #1 producer of competition and food shows in Thailand, Heliconia H Group is the perfect home for the globally successful TOP CHEF format," Kitikorn Penrote, Chief Executive Officer, Heliconia H Group said. "This blockbuster series will further strengthen our 2023 line-up of programming and our expertise will ensure we expand this beloved programme in a way that feels authentic and exciting. We look forward to collaborating with NBCUniversal Formats to produce an epic new series that will inspire Thai audiences and culinary professionals while promoting Thailand’s world renowned and fast-growing food industry.”
