Pernel Media is gearing up for a new four-episode documentary series with exclusive access on several scientific expeditions in South America that will reveal the latest secrets on the enigmatic Inca civilization with the help of photorealistic special effects.

French broadcaster RMC Découverte (AlticeMedia) has commissioned Pernel Media to produce a new 4-episode documentary series, a four-part title for the French market and a title for international viewers.  The producers of the series are Céline Payot Lehmann and Samuel Kissous. The production is due to deliver in the first quarter of 2025.

Titled "Rise and "Fall of the Inca" the series delves into the origins and the fall of the largest pre-Columbian empire, thanks to exclusive access to various international excavations. According to Executive producer, Céline Payot Lehmann, the series has already received offers from international partners and deals will be closed at World Congress of Science and Factual Producers.

According to Executive producer, Céline Payot Lehmann, it has already received offers from international partners and deals will be closed at World Congress of Science and Factual Producers. “The Inca, like the Maya, are truly fascinating," Payot Lehmann said. "Thanks to the latest innovations, archeology is so much more visually impressive, scientists can make conclusions much faster and make the stones speak. The adventure of the archeology mixed with state of the art CGI to bring back ancient worlds to life makes very good television."

With astonishing 3D and CGI, and high-quality animations, this new series takes the viewers to the far reaches of the Inca world, as if they were there themselves. Thanks to the latest scientific data and cinematic special effects, Inca monuments, including Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world, are reconstructed for the first time in photorealistic CGI to depict them as they were in the past.

Following the success of the 4-episode documentary series "Rise and Fall of the Maya," seen by over 7.7 million viewers in France to this day (in collaboration with National Geographic, ZDFI, ZDFS, TV5 Quebec and Histoire TV), RMC Découverte has once again placed its trust in Pernel Media to produce this ambitious docuseries.

From the Saqsaquayman fortress to the lost city of Vilcabamba, passing through Lake Titicaca and the Machu Picchu archaeological site, international scientists take us on a journey to uncover the last mysteries of the Inca civilization, which reigned over Central America from the 15th to the 16th century. These extraordinary discoveries rewrite Inca history, which has been distorted by biased Spanish accounts. For the first time, the story of the Inca empire is told through the eyes of the four emperors who successively led it.
