Rainmaker Content has confirmed new sales to Asia for various titles, including the action-drama "Professionals" alongside other new licensees for the Emmy Awards 2021. “Asia is an extremely competitive marketplace, and we are very pleased to have secured these sales to several broadcasters and platforms across the region,” Karen Wise, Head of Sales at Rainmaker Content, said.
The film created by the drama-centralized international distributor has been sold to Catchplay+ in Indonesia and Taiwan, U-Next Co., Ltd in Japan, and Mediacorp for Singapore. Rainbow has also secured sales with Star Channel Japan for the show and renewals on the series with Huanxi Media Group for China. The show has already been sold to Canal+ France, DirecTV Latin America, BBC UKTV New Zealand, HOT Israel, Canal+ Poland, Russian Report, Hulu USA, ABC Australia, and UK’s BritBox.
The sales include factual and special event programming, including the Action-adventure series starring Tom Welling and Brendan Fraser, which Disney Networks Group Asia Pacific Limited has acquired. “Rainmaker has set out to build a portfolio of drama and factual series that has global appeal, and these sales confirm the benefit of our strategy," Wise said.
The critically acclaimed series staged, written, and directed by Simon Evans, stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen, and received positive feedback after airing in the UK. The series follows the cast as they try their best to keep the rehearsals on track in lockdown. Set in the 21st century, the show stars Welling as hardened former counterintelligence officer Captain Vincent Corbo. After an advanced medical satellite explodes on deployment, billionaire futurist Peter Swann and his fiancée, medical visionary Dr. Graciela “Grace” Davila, depend on Corbo, who helps organize a team to organize the situation.
