Rainmaker Content signs content deal with Saffron Cherry Productions

The first look agreement between the global distributor and the production agency founded by Caroline Roberts-Cherry and Sally Lindsay,

Rainmaker Content  has signed a first look deal with Caroline Roberts-Cherry and Sally Lindsay’s multi-genre production company, Saffron Cherry Productions. “We’re delighted to be working with Saffron Cherry, an innovative production company with a strong track record in creating shows with strong roles," Vicky Ryan, Co-Founder and COO, Rainmaker Content said. "Their ambition to develop IP around new and established talent, local voices and stories fits very well with Rainmaker’s growing portfolio for the international market.”

The exclusive deal, brokered by Rainmaker Content, will allow a first look at all new scripted drama from Saffron Cherry. Working with major broadcasters in the UK and internationally across all platforms, the creative team behind Saffron Cherry Productions includes Producer Caroline Roberts-Cherry, Founder and Managing Director, actor, presenter and writer Sally Lindsay, Creative Director, and Technical Director of Operations Martin Riley.

Based in Manchester, Saffron Cherry produces dynamic, award-winning television, cinematic film and digital short-form content across scripted and non-scripted genres, actively promoting creativity rooted in the North West which has global appeal. Recent hits from Saffron Cherry Productions include "The Madame Blanc Mysteries" starring Sally Lindsay and Steve Edge, a six-part mystery drama commissioned for Channel 5 and Acorn TV and co-produced by Clapperboard and Saffron Cherry Productions, created and written by Sally Lindsay and co-written by Sue Vincent. "We have an exciting, diverse, female-led slate spanning place and period, with superb productions in development that we can't wait to share with the world,"  Caroline Roberts-Cherry, Founder and Managing Director, Saffron Cherry said. "Rainmaker shares our ambition to showcase arresting, engaging stories working with both new and established talent and we're delighted to be continuing our drama journey with them."

Other titles from Saffron Cherry Productions include the cinematic film of Talawa Theatre Company and the Royal Exchange Theatre's "King Lear," with a black-led cast starring Don Warrington. Factual titles include "Noël Coward" by Julian Clary for Sky Arts, which was nominated for the inaugural Diversify TV Awards at MipCom, and the O2 Media Award winning "Emmeline Pankhurst: The Making of a Militant," presented by Sally Lindsay for the BBC. Cherry has also contributed to various successful children's titles.
