The 15th Seoul International Drama Awards announced that Ay Yapim’s series “The Choice” is one of the finalists for Best Serial Drama, positioning itself as the only finalist from Turkey this year. The winner will be announced on September 10 in a special ceremony livestreamed from Seoul.

“The Choice” was selected as one of eight finalists for Best Serial Drama out of 44 nominated programmes from 15 different countries, and it is Ay Yapim’s seventh Serial Drama finalist this decade. Before this, the producer has won with “Crash” (2019), “Brave and Beautiful” (2017), “Endless Love” (2016), “Medcezir” (2014), and “Ezel” (2012).

“‘The Choice’ is a special series. It balances a sophisticated plot with powerful interpersonal drama. I am very pleased it was nominated for this honor,”  commented Kerem Çatay, CEO at Ay Yapim.

While Turkish drama is known for its love triangles, impossible romances, and family intrigue, “The Choice” takes place in the world of high finance, where a struggling economics professor stages the nation’s largest financial fraud in order to save the life of his sick son. What makes this series stand out is how it combines a fast-moving, complex plot with the beating heart of Turkish drama.

The show, which features an all-star ensemble of top Turkish talent, including Halit Ergenç, Ozan Güven, Aslı Enver, Birce Akalay, Nur Fettahoğlu, and Mesut Akusta, is distributed around the world by Madd Entertainment, and has already been sold to 70 territories. "Viewers around the world associate Ay Yapim with high-quality programming. ‘The Choice’ is just the latest series to prove that point,”  said Ateş Ince, Managing Director at Madd.
