Viaplay Group and Telia sign multi-year content partnership in Sweden

The deal will expand content offering options for both, Viaplay and Telia customers.

Viaplay Group and Telia recently signed a multi-year partnership in Sweden to offer its clients a wider variety of content. “We are delighted about our new partnership with Viaplay Group," Henrik Lönnevi, Telia Chief Commercial Officer said. Beginning on 13 December, Telia’s TV and streaming customers can again access Viaplay Group’s live sports, series and film offerings through the Viaplay streaming service and Viaplay Group’s TV channels. The two companies have also deepened their sports co-operation, with selected UEFA Champions League, LaLiga and Serie A matches to be added to the Viaplay Total streaming package. Similarly, Swedish men’s national football team matches and selected UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League matches will be shown on Telia’s C More streaming service.

The partnership will enable expanded access to the Viaplay streaming service will be added to more Telia TV and streaming packages in Sweden in the course of 2023. All Viaplay streaming packages, including Viaplay Total, will be available to Telia’s 1 million Swedish TV and streaming customers as add-on subscriptions. “This is great news for viewers across Sweden," Kim Poder, Viaplay Group Chief Commercial Officer Nordics said. Telia will resume distribution of Viaplay Group’s TV3, TV6, TV8 and TV10 channels, which will be included in all its main TV and streaming packages in Sweden, as well as Viaplay Group’s full portfolio of premium film and sport channels. The linear channel, TV6,  popular live sports such as FIS Alpine and cross-country skiing, handball, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League, and Swedish men’s national team football.

The platform's live sports line-up in Sweden includes football from the Premier League, EFL Championship, FA Cup, Bundesliga, Damallsvenskan, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League and UEFA men’s national team competitions; Formula 1; NHL and the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship; FIS winter sports; IHF handball; golf Majors and much more. Viaplay is the leading producer of premium Nordic drama, with more than 70 Viaplay Series and Films premiering in 2022, and has long-term partnerships with Hollywood studios that bring viewers first-run blockbusters and high-quality kids content.

One LaLiga or Serie A match per round, and one UEFA Champions League match per match week (excluding semi-finals and final), will be available in the Viaplay Total streaming package in Sweden, while remaining on C More. One UEFA Europa League or UEFA Europa Conference League match per match week, and approximately 10 Sweden men’s national team matches a year, including the UEFA Nations League, international qualifiers and friendlies, will be shown on C More while remaining available on Viaplay and TV6.
