"Lucy is the 7"
"Lucy is the 7," produced by SOMOS Productions and Pinolywood Studios, will be available on HBO Max—Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform—thanks to an agreement with SOMOS Distribution, a global content distributor under SOMOS Group, led by Luis Villanueva. The series is a youth musical produced in Puerto Rico, a genre that enjoys strong popularity and is a hallmark of SOMOS Group’s production arm. The show’s first season, debuting in September on HBO Max Latin America, consists of 10 episodes.
The show follows Lucy, a sweet girl with a wildly imaginative mind. In her inner world, she sees those around her as characters from Japanese anime. The person she sees most vividly is Anthony—a boy striving to become a famous singer with many social media followers, although at the moment, he only has one... Lucy. Her biggest dream is to become a music star alongside Anthony, as she has always been in love with him. Their shared goal is to perform together on stage and rise to fame as international artists. Anthony’s vision is to form a seven-member K-Pop group, and this musical brings that dream to life with catchy songs and dazzling choreography—all set against the vibrant backdrop of Puerto Rico.
Luis Villanueva, President and CEO of SOMOS Group, highlighted that the production will resonate with audiences of all ages: ‘"We are thrilled to have reached this agreement with Max, and we believe there’s no better platform to deliver a high-quality and entertaining production. It’s a genre that resonates with viewers of all ages thanks to its joy and optimism. Both teams worked hard, and this collaboration will surely lead to more opportunities in the future," stated.
