Keshet International has acquired the international distribution rights to "Fury" (AKA Furia), an eight-part political crime thriller co-produced by Monster Scripted and X Filme Creative Pool. The 8x50’ multi-language returning drama, which follows an undercover journey into the dark world of right-wing terrorism, has been commissioned by Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) and ZDF, the German public service broadcaster.

Created by Gjermund S Eriksen, creator and showrunner of the International Emmy Award-winning "Mammon", "Fury" follows undercover cop Ragna as she infiltrates a nationalistic subculture in order to prevent a major terrorist attack. With Germany in the midst of fiercely fought elections, her quest to discover the target sets her on a journey from the idyllic fjords of Norway to the heart of Europe’s political struggles: Berlin.

With principal photography planned for May 2020, "Fury" will feature Norwegian, German, and English dialogue. Magnus Martens will direct the first three episodes, which will be filmed primarily in Norway, with Lars Kraume directing the remaining five episodes, most of which will be shot in Germany. Håkon Briseid and Lasse Greve Alsos will executive produce Fury for Monster Scripted, alongside X Filme’s Michael Polle and Uwe Schott. Julia Ebner, a researcher at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue and author of The Rage: The Vicious Circle of Islamist and Far-Right Extremism, will act as a consultant on the series.

Sebastian Burkhardt, KI’s MD of Global Content says, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Monster Scripted, X Filme, NENT Group and ZDF to bring this incredibly topical and relatable multi-language drama to a wider global audience. Fury a fast-paced thriller with personal stories at its heart, a fantastically constructed script and an important story to share, so it really stood out from the crowd for us.”

Lasse Greve Alsos, Executive Producer and Håkon Briseid, Managing Director at Monster Scripted comments, “When the creator, Gjermund Eriksen, first approached Monster Scripted with his idea, we immediately recognized the contemporary importance and relevance of this story for today’s Europe. We also recognized the importance of a strong collaboration with partners who share the same high ambitions as we have. Fury is one of those rare chances you get to make a thrilling series on a high artistic level which can make an impact. We are really happy Keshet International will bring Fury to a global audience.”

Uwe Schott, managing director and Michael Polle, Head of TV of X Filme add, “After the success of Babylon Berlin, we were looking for an equivalent project which poses new creative challenges. When we heard of Furia the first time at Berlinale 2018 we were immediately convinced that this is one of the most important stories in our times which has to be told. We became part of the producer and creative team behind this innovative high-end thriller drama series and are looking back on an immensely creative development process since the beginning of our collaboration. Together with our partners at Monster and the great creative team of showrunner Gjermund Erikson, the directors Magnus Martens and Lars Kraume, we are looking forward to bring Furia alive in Norway and Germany next year.”

This acquisition was brokered by Anke Stoll, KI’s VP of Acquisitions. Keshet International will distribute "Fury" internationally. "Fury" is the fourth high-end drama title to be supported by the KI Content Fund, which aims to bring high-profile projects with global appeal to a wider audience by utilizing KI’s worldwide distribution prowess.
