Viaplay  unveiled the star Swedish cast for its original, "The Meaning Of Life." Celie Sparre  and Helena af Sandeberg play the lead roles in the eight-part series, which is created by Maria Nygren and Tove Eriksen Hillblom and produced by FLX. ‘The Meaning of Life’ will premiere exclusively on Viaplay in autumn 2022.

"The Meaning of Life"  is produced by Sussan Treshow for FLX and directed by Eddie Åhgren. Filming is underway in Stockholm. The series is distributed globally by Viaplay Content Sales. “Our latest Viaplay Original is based on its creators’ personal experiences. It handles sensitive questions with a deft touch and portrays characters who will be instantly recognisable for many viewers," Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer, said.

Co-stars include Chatarina Larsson, Göran Ragnerstam, Johan Jonason, Nora Rios, Jonatan Rodriguez and Madeleine Martin. "‘The Meaning of Life’ is warm, difficult, humorous and unpredictable – just like relationships themselves," Wallestam said.

In "The Meaning Of Life,"Alva wants nothing more than to become a parent together with boyfriend Nico, but it’s just not happening. Meanwhile, her sister Ellen has three children with husband Alex (Ulf Stenberg: ‘Love Me’) – and dearly wishes she hadn’t.  “When I first read the script, I just said ‘yes!’," Helena af Sandberg said. "Ellen’s feelings of having lost herself in everything that comes with children and families will strike a chord with so many. It certainly did with me.”

Besides this title, the platform is set to release 70 Viaplay Originals this year.  “This is a sympathetically told story about love, sisterhood, family ties and longing for children," Celie Sparre said. "It’s about understanding which life to lead – something that’s never easy."
