Globo’s production “She’s The One” has been nominated in two categories at the Seoul International Drama Awards: Best Series and Best Actress (Duda Santos). Since 2005, the event has celebrated cultural exchange among more than 60 countries, recognizing the best drama productions in the world. The series is competing against seven other international productions: “D.I.D. 12” (Hong Kong), “Emerald Hill - The Little Nyonya Story” (Singapore), “For Eagle Brothers” (South Korea), “Saving Grace” (Philippines), “The Beach” (Greece), “The Good & The Bad” (Turkey) and “The Nightfall” (Turkey). Actress Duda Santos is competing for Best Actress alongside Cate Blanchett, Dami Kim, Jung-Young Kim, Minha Kim, Rie Miyazawa, and Ying-xuan Hsieh. The awards ceremony will take place in Seoul on October 2.
“We are thrilled with this nomination and proud to see a powerful Brazilian story like ‘She’s The One’ crossing borders and reaching audiences around the world. Even though it's set in the 1950s, the telenovela addresses current and relevant social issues, which came to life so vividly through our cast. I also celebrate the well-deserved nomination of Duda Santos, who is truly 'The One',” said screenwriter Alessandra Poggi. “‘She’s The One’ was a very special and unforgettable telenovela that invited us to reflect and dream together. Knowing that it resonated beyond Brazil moves and delights us. And Duda Santos truly proves she is an international-level star,” added artistic director Natalia Grimberg.
“It still feels surreal, like a dream. This telenovela meant so much to me, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who stood by me and made it possible to bring Beatriz to life. ‘She’s The One’ carries deep meaning, and I think it’s so important for the world to see this and many other Brazilian productions. Beatriz is a rich character who brings essential topics to the surface. She’s a princess and seeing her reaching the world with such representativeness feels like a mission accomplished,” celebrated Duda Santos.
“She’s The One” is set in the late 1950s and, against a vibrant and joyful backdrop, tells stories of love, dreams, and personal victories. The narrative also highlights rivalries, the fight against sexism and prejudice, women ahead of their time, and emotional reckonings. The plot follows Beatriz (played by Duda Santos, from “Rebirth”) on a journey to discover her identity and reconcile with her past after reconnecting with the mother she believes abandoned her in childhood.
During its run (from November 2024 to June 2025), over 144 million Brazilians watched and were moved by the telenovela on broadcast TV. On Globoplay, it became the most-watched 6 PM telenovela in the platform’s history.
Last year, “Justice: Misconduct” won the Grand Prize in the International Competition, the highest award at the Seoul International Drama Awards. In 2020, “Orphans of a Nation” received the Grand Prize, and in 2011 “Passione” took home the Silver Bird Prize.
