France tv distribution is taking part in the virtual edition of the International Animation Film Market (MIFA- Annecy) with the best animation series like “Super Caribou” and “Grosha & Mr B.” as well as with new titles like “Ana Pumpkin” and “Disco Dragon”. Julia Schulte, SVP International Sales, described the proposal of the company during the event and explained why the series can be attractive for international buyers.

Which are the main features of these animated series?

“’Super Caribou’ is a comedy series about a superhero’s everyday adventures, and about friendship, love and helping each other out. ‘Grosha & Mr B.’  is a comedy cop show for kids from 6 to 9, starring a duo of cats who are totally different, yet this difference is a strength as these two complete each other in the investigations. ‘Ana Pumpkin’ explores the world of Ana, a 5-year-old, in her own way, with joy and curiosity. ‘Disco Dragon’, with the help of Betty and Disco’, learn how to be more self-confident and express your feelings”.

Why France tv distribution titles can be attractive to international buyers?

Our animation series reflect first of all the strength and creativity of our partners, the French independent studios. Apart from the technical quality of their animation itself, they are extremely talented in writing great stories and imagining characters that appeal to young audiences. Another aspect of their success is the mix of educational and entertainment aspects that Young kids but also their parents can enjoy together. Producers take risks by developing original ideas with new characters in very particular universes, like in ‘Grosha & Mr B.’, ‘Disco Dragon’, and ‘Ana Pumpkin’. Our ‘Super Caribou’ comes from children’s literature, based on the French books‘Jean-Michel Le Caribou’ (©EditionsActes Sud Junior) by Magali Le Huche, renowned illustrator in the press and children's publishing”.

What is the potential of the animated series nowadays?

“For international distributors, animations till has a very high potential to travel around the world, as it is so universal with a great level of diversification. Kids around the globe love the creativeness of animation characters and their stories. And for platforms and broadcasters animation IPs are more than ever an important vector for their identifications among the Young audiences while competition is growing”.

What will be the main goal of France tv distribution in MIFA Annecy?

“The MIFA, even in its digital form, will be an occasion for us to exchange with our buyers about our new animated series, ‘Ana Pumpkin’ and ‘Disco Dragon’, give an update on ‘Grosha & Mr B.’ which is still in production, and close new deals on ‘Super Caribou’. As a distributor, we will also take part in the pitches of new projects and meet with producers as we are always looking for new programs.”
