Mipcom is ready to welcome more than 12,000 delegates

In its 39th edition, the international co-production and entertainment content market Mipcom Cannes returns to the Palais des Festivals from October 16 to 19, expecting to welcome more than 12,000 delegates from over 110 countries, including 3,000 buyers.

In its 39th edition, the international co-production and entertainment content market Mipcom Cannes returns to the Palais des Festivals from October 16 to 19, expecting to welcome more than 12,000 delegates from over 110 countries, including 3,000 buyers.

Celebrated as “the mother of all entertainment content markets,” Mipcom is the most anticipated week for global decision-makers to compete for new series, source international production partners, and set the development agenda for the coming year and beyond. The convention offers a mix of networking events and planned business opportunities from morning until night.

The most important companies in the sector will participate in the event. All3Media International, Amazon MGM Studios Distribution, Banijay Rights, BETA Film, Fox Entertainment Global, NBCUniversal International, Paramount Global Content Distribution, Federation Studios, France tv distribution, Fremantle, Global Screen, ITV Studios, The Mediapro Studio, Mediawan, Movistar+, Red Arrow Studios International, Studiocanal, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Discovery, and ZDF Studios are just a few of the companies confirmed for this edition.

This year, China will be recognized as the 2023 Country of Honour. Across the week, the specially curated programme will spotlight China’s co-production, acquisition and distribution activities and opportunities. These include “Fresh Content China,” a session presented by the China Pavilion; masterclasses focusing on successful format adaptations and the use of latest technology within production; and showcases specializing in the latest in animation, scripted and non-scripted content to be emerging from the country.

●  MEDIA MASTERMIND KEYNOTES

The masterminds of the TV and entertainment industry take to the Grand Auditorium to ignite new ideas and perspectives. The keynote speakers range from global studio heads to new industry disruptors. Some of this years’ speakers include Gerhard Zeiler (Warner Bros. The FAST & Global Summit returns at Mipcom Cannes following the highly successful summit launched at MIPTV 2023, featuring the Talk Series and the FAST & Global roundtables and talks that will gather worldwide experts to provide a blueprint and discuss opportunities to distribute and programme FAST channels across international markets. ●  UNLOCKING AI SUMMIT

This year, in response to the worldwide growing interest and concerns about Generative Artificial Intelligence, Mipcom Cannes is inviting international AI-Experts on stage to discuss a technology whose term has gone viral but whose impact remains complex to measure. Through multiple showcases, debates and analysis, the Unlocking AI Summit will unveil the potential of Generative AI and what this fast-evolving machine intelligence means for the TV & Entertainment industry while addressing the associated ethical and legal concerns.

●  SEAVIEW PRODUCERS' HUB PROGRAMME

The Seaview Producers Hub is the annual business hive and fresh hang-out point for producers and everyone involved in co-productions worldwide. Hosting all key creative sessions focused on co-production partnerships and financing across scripted and unscripted, the supersized Hub reflects the increased focus on the market for exploring early-stage development.

●  AWARDS

As usual, on day two of the market, the Awards Ceremony of the traditional 2023 Diversify TV Awards will be celebrated. This event recognizes the promotion of diversity and inclusion in television internationally. This year, 165 submissions were received from 27 countries, and a total of nine winners will be announced live in Cannes.

Furthermore, on Wednesday 18, the ninth edition of the Content Innovation Awards will be celebrated in Cannes in an exclusive partnership with Mipcom. This ceremony honours companies that are helping transform today’s global television industry.

Meanwhile, Bob Bakish, President and CEO of Paramount Global, will be honoured with the Mipcom Cannes Personality of the Year award at the forthcoming market, presented as part of a keynote session in the Grand Auditorium. Awarded in recognition of outstanding leadership and creative contribution to the industry, Bakish will share insights from a distinguished career and discuss his approach to evolving a preeminent global content company at a time of dramatic change across the media landscape.

●  SCREENINGS AND PREMIERES

The Cannes red carpet welcomes world premieres and special screenings of the most highly anticipated series. For example, staged as a curtain raiser to this year’s market on Sunday 15, the screening of “Zorro” (presented by Mediawan) will be followed by a Q&A with Miguel Bernardeau and key executives including Sergio Pizzolante in the Grand Auditorium.

Furthermore, “Alice & Jack,” a highly anticipated original drama series, will be staged on October 16 in the Grand Auditorium. “Alice & Jack” is an independent production from Fremantle in partnership with Me + You Productions, Groundswell Productions, De Maio Entertainment, and Masterpiece in collaboration with Channel 4.

Moreover, Beta Film and ZDF Studios have announced the world premiere of the highly anticipated surveillance drama “Concordia,” produced by Beta Film’s and ZDF Studios’ joint venture Intaglio Films. Click here to see the full list of screenings.

●  MIPJUNIOR

Held at the JW Marriott, MIPJunior gathers in Cannes the most influential buyers, commissioners, producers, development executives and distributors from the global Kids TV industry. The event will take place on October 13-15, with a pre-opening on Friday including the opening of the Screenings Library, conference sessions and a cocktail.
