Shanghai Film & TV Market 2025: Russia to feature over 150 films at the event

Among the stand-out features are family fairy tales "Pinocchio" and "Сhebi 2"; a historical drama "The Race of Motors" and the fantasy action film "The Ultimate Planet".

At the Shanghai Film & TV Market (June 23 to 27) ROSKINO has organized a booth that brings together fifteen Russian film and animation companies, that will together present over 150 projects. During the event, ROSKINO is also organizing a special presentation for international participants to showcase projects from Russian film companies.

Elsa Antonova, ROSKINO CEO said: “For the first time, the Russian film industry is presenting a record-breaking number of projects—over 150—at its offline stand at an international film market. China has always been one of our key partners; we are united by both business and cultural projects. And, seeing that 2024 and 2025 are the years of Russia and China, our cooperation has significantly increased. The Shanghai International market is, in effect, an ‘industrial barometer’ of China’s cinema market, so we hope to learn more about the current trends in China, audience preferences, the prospects, and, naturally, we count on closing new deals."

FILMS OF ALL GENRES

Among the hits of the Russian theater distribution are the adventure fantasy "The Wizard of the Emerald City". Part 1, a musical biopic about Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, "The Poet" (Central Partnership), and the joint Russian and Chinese adventure movie "Red Silk" from Art Pictures Distribution. These films will soon appear in Chinese movie theaters, too.

Among the wide range of varied-genre feature films are the fairy tale "Pinocchio" (Art Pictures Distribution); a new thriller "Down", as well as a period sports drama "The Race of Motors" about the creators of the first Russian series automobile (Central Partnership); the continuation of the fairy tale hit "Chebi 2", from All Media Company (a START company); the sci-fi films "The Ultimate Planet" and "The Dog of Many Tomorrows" (CTB Film Company); two co-production projects: "Gems" (Russia-India) and "Alpine Ballad" (Russia-Serbia) from Pan-Atlantic Studio.

Buyers will also be offered some popular Russian films that have already become beloved at home, namely "Finist: The First warrior" (All Media Company), "Palma 2" and "Air" (Mars Media Entertainment), "Major Grom: The Game" (Bubble Studios), a sweet family film "Everyone’s Dream is to Have a Dog" (IGMAR). Additionally, the catalog of Russian projects at the Shanghai International Film & TV Market includes a package of debut full-length feature films such as "Longer Than a Day", and the drama "Four Seasons".

Documentaries are represented by such projects as "Manchukuo:The Empire of Blood" (Russia Television and Radio); "Women Claim Sea", and "Russia: The Journey in Time".

SERIES AND ANIMATED FILMS

Among the projects to be shown by Russian companies at the Shanghai Film & TV Market are 20 serials. These include the dramatic comedy "Chemo Romance" (Art Pictures Distribution); the period drama "The Princess of Mercy"; psychological crime movie "Inside the Criminal Mind" (Russia Television and Radio), an adventure series about a rescue crew "Five Minutes of Silence: Mountains and Sea", and a crime thriller "Dark Sacrifice" (NTV Broadcasting Company).

This year, animated feature constitute almost one-third of the projects being presented in Shanghai. Buyers will be presented such novelties as "Oomka&Me", "Goal!" and "I’ll Get You!" (SMF Animation), "How to Save the Immortal 2: Elixir of Life" (CTB Film Company), the series "Arctic Heroes", "The Steel Family" and a full-length feature film "Dr.Paws" (Voronezh Animation Studio), the animated series "Living Garage" and "Fly Deliveries" (YARKO Animation Company), a full-length feature animated film "Champies" and an animated series about little magicians "Seven Kingdoms" (Digital Television Russia), "Kid-e-Cats. The Great Ice-Escape" (Art Pictures Distribution), and "The Dino Family" (Central Partnership).
