TV France International and its members are going to be present online from December 8 to 10 at the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP), a prestigious event for producers, broadcasters and distributors of science and history documentaries.

The event takes place in a different country each year. In this 2020, it was going to be held in Strasbourg, France, but instead will be fully online and will include more than 500 companies from around the world. The congress will explore subjects in the headlines, from the pandemic to Black Lives Matter or climate change, and will focus on the latest technologies and trends.

“The WCSFP gives us a new opportunity to support French documentaries abroad. After spotlighting the genre at the Rendez-Vous Bi@rritz 2020, which for the very first time had 15 pitching sessions and the first round table dedicated to commissioning editors, we are happy to have a delegation of 17 of our members, including leading world specialists in documentaries, at this event,”  said Sarah Hemar, Executive Director of TV France International.

“In 2019, sales of French documentaries reached historic levels at €44M (up 44% on 2018). The result of acclaimed knowhow, French productions, particularly in history and science, are of great interest to a wide range of buyers: public and private broadcasters, both mainstream and theme-based, platforms and coproducers. The WCSFP is a major event to discuss with them,”  Hemar added.
