Continuing the strategy that began at Le Rendez-Vous Bi@rritz 2020 and which was welcomed by foreign buyers and commissioning editors, TV France International, the association for the international promotion of French audiovisual content, launches Le Rendez-Vous Docs, a new and unique market dedicated entirely to documentaries that will hold on March 18, 2021, via a specific web platform.

“After a disrupted year in 2020, punctuated with transformations such as Le Rendez-Vous Bi@rritz turning 100% digital, and the creation of Les Screens, six thematic online markets delivered via our Screenopsis platform, we decided to launch a new event to support the work of our members in the documentary sector," explains Sarah Hemar, Executive Director of TV France International. “Documentaries are an integral part of the French audiovisual landscape, and are recognized the world over for the quality and know-how of the talented people that make them. International sales saw an historic leap of +44% between 2018 and 2019, and the sector maintains significant growth which we must support, whatever the circumstances,” she adds.

Le Rendez-Vous Docs will feature 3 key spotlights:

• Super Highlights selected by a panel of TV France’s Board of Directors. These event sessions of 15 minutes each will allow international buyers to discover ambitious new documentaries.

• Project pitching sessions of 3 minutes maximum. The choice of projects will be made by a pre-market poll of the 1,500 international buyers and commissioning editors invited to the event.

• A dedicated Screening Room for Le Rendez-Vous Docs 2021 on Screenopsis, where each member of TV France will be able to present up to 10 programs and/or projects.

Representatives of new documentaries or projects seeking funding have until February 15 to submit their programs.
