Mediengruppe RTL has greenlit the fourth season of the series "Sisi." "Sisi is a huge success, especially with our streaming audience," Hauke Bartel, Head of Fiction RTL said. "2023, the event series was the most successful in-house fiction production on RTL+ for the third time in a row. Therefore, we are very much looking forward to crowning Sisi with a fourth season."

Garnering successful broadcasting runs on linear networks and digital platforms in Europe over the past three seasons, "Sisi" has also been the most watched series of the year for a third time in a row on streaming service RTL+.

The new season of "Sisi" is produced by Story House Pictures in collaboration with Beta Film for RTL. The title is among the hot sellers in Beta Film’s line-up and has been sold to over 100 territories, among others France’s TF1, Italy’s Mediaset, Starz Entertainment for Latin America, and Canada’s public broadcaster CBC.

The "Sissi" trilogy by Ernst Marischka, starring legendary Romy Schneider, first brought the Empress to television in the 1950s. Considered a Christmas classic throughout Europe, the movies averaged a market share of 13% over 2023 holiday season in Germany alone. In the fourth season of the series about a story that’s meant-to-be love yet full of obstacles, Dominique Devenport and Jannik Schümann reprise their roles as Sisi and Franz, while Sven Bohse returns to direct, with head writers Elena Hell und Robert Krause returning as well. Shooting is set to begin in spring.
