On the heels of celebrating the success of its first original scripted series, sci-fi thriller "Dani Who?", Paramount Channel Latin America announced the incorporation of four international titles to its 2020 programming roster: "To Catch A Thief", "R", "Party of Five" and "For Life". The announcement was made by Tiago Worcman, SVP and Brand Head of Music & Entertainment Brands for ViacomCBS Networks Americas.
“Just like our original productions 'Dani Who?' and 'Yellowstone', on Paramount Channel we are always on the lookout for unique stories with inspiring characters and engaging narratives that transcend the screen. We are thrilled to bring these titles to our audiences in Latin America,” said Worcman.
Based on the classic film by Alfred Hitchcock, "To Catch a Thief" (Atrapa a un Ladrón, 10 x 60’) follows the love story and mystery surrounding a reformed jewel thief who must track down a copycat thief to prove his innocence. The show produced by Viacom International Studios (VIS) and created by Javier Olivares stars Argentinean actor Pablo Echarri and Spanish actor Alexandra Jiménez. To Catch a Thief premieres on the Paramount Channel on February 3, 2020.
"R" (‘Erre’ in Spanish, 10 x 45’) is an original series created by Viacom International Studios for Claro video. The story follows the nerve-wracking life of Franco, a man with a mediocre existence whose reality is altered in the face of receiving a diagnosis of imminent death. With this unexpected news, Franco transforms his life into a tumultuous reality of unexpected and life-altering situations and excesses. What he doesn’t know is that the medical diagnosis he received was a mistake. Joining the talented Mauricio Ochmann as Franco, the cast features Paulina Dávila, Marco de la O, Gala Montes, Andrés Almeida and Jesús Zavala. R Premieres on Claro Video and Paramount Channel in 2020.
"Party OF Five" (10 x 60’) follows the Acosta siblings, Emilio, Lucia, Beto, Valentina and baby Rafa, as they struggle to stay together in the wake of their parents' deportation. Forced to shoulder professional and parenting responsibilities for which they are ill-equipped, the siblings must grow up quickly. The popular cast includes Emily Tosta, Niko Guardado, Brandon Larracuente, Elle Paris Legaspi and Bruno Bichir. Party of Five premieres on the Paramount Channel in 2020.
Inspired by the life of Isaac Wright Jr., "For Life" (10 x 60’) is a fictional sequential legal and family drama about a prisoner who becomes a lawyer, litigating cases for other inmates, and all the while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn't commit. His quest for freedom is driven by his desperate desire to get back to the family he loves to reclaim the life that was stolen from him. The series will also, through the window of his ferocious struggle and his complicated relationship with a progressive female prison warden, examine the flaws and challenges in our penal and legal systems.
