As part of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Market (MIFA), the Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) announced a new, $3M joint program for the prototyping of Quebec-made animated series targeted for children and youth. This program will facilitate the prototyping of new animated series developed in French with the aim of unlocking funding from broadcasters, distributors, and other national and international partners. Two-thirds of the program budget will be provided by the SODEC, and the last third by the CMF.

“We are delighted to deepen our collaboration with the SODEC,” said Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, CMF. “Our first joint program to support the pre-development of television series based on literary adaptations is a resounding success, and I look forward to seeing what we accomplish with this new initiative, which responds to an important need in today's animation market.”

Funding may cover up to 80% of eligible costs, to a maximum of $500,000 per project. Information on the program's terms and conditions will be announced before the applications open in the fall.
