Global kids and family production and distribution outfit CAKE announced it has completed the acquisition of the Jetpack Distribution brand, doubling the size of the company’s catalog to 3,200 half hours of high quality kids and family series. CAKE also announced the subsequent restructuring of its business to provide enhanced expertise and services across its sales, distribution, marketing and acquisitions functions.

Former Jetpack CEO Dominic Gardiner will join CAKE as Managing Director of Distribution, leading the sales, marketing and acquisitions teams of CAKE’s distribution arm. Reporting to CAKE’s board of directors: Group CEO Ed Galton and Group CFO & COO Cat Seddon.

Meanwhile, CAKE’s Group CEO Ed Galton continues to oversee CAKE’s four main businesses: CAKE Distribution, CAKE Production, Popcorn Digital and Kickstart Production.

Jetpack’s former Sales Manager Toby Jones joins CAKE as Senior Sales Manager, working alongside veteran Sales Director Julien Farcat, both of whom will be reporting to Dominic Gardiner.

Jetpack Distribution was a leading kids and family content distributor that found homes for high quality, character-driven shows within its 1900 half hour catalog. New series carried over from Jetpack, and added to CAKE’s catalog, include titles such as “Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed,” “Moley,” “Talking Tom and Friends,” “Mechamato,” “The Clangers” and more.

Ed Galton said: “Combining the efforts and knowledge base that Dom and Toby bring from Jetpack with CAKE’s expertise enables us to offer an enhanced sales and marketing business, taking the best of what Jetpack has to offer and fusing it with the best of CAKE.” He added: “This creates a much better service (and product!) for the buyers we sell to and the producers and creators we partner with. Both Jetpack and CAKE pride themselves on a personal, friendly, and professional approach. And we intend to keep building on this!”

Dominic Gardiner stated: “CAKE has long been a competitor and a friend! It’s a natural union that offers great benefits for the industry we work with. I look forward to helping to take CAKE to the next level.”

Cat Seddon worked closely with Charles Whelan of Polestar CF to achieve the strategic acquisition, with GBH Law advising.
