“The Floor”
The international rollout of "The Floor" continues, with Talpa Studios' quiz format set to launch in both Estonia and Latvia. In Estonia, the show will premiere on TV3 with 60 daily episodes, while Latvia’s version will consist of 12 weekly episodes airing on the Latvian TV3—both networks part of the same media group. Production for both versions will be handled by ELITAZ, from a newly established production hub in Lithuania that aims to serve the wider Baltic region.
The launches in Estonia and Latvia represent a further expansion of "The Floor", which is now present in 24 territories. The format has found international appeal thanks to its accessible gameplay, distinctive visual style, and adaptability across diverse markets.
Sebastian van Barneveld, Director of Global Distribution at Talpa Studios, provided context for the show's success: ‘We’re excited to add Estonia and Latvia to the growing list of international adaptations,’ he said. ‘"The Floor" was recently named "Format of the Year" by K7 Media, and we’re seeing renewals confirmed in several markets. It’s a strong-performing format, and we’re looking forward to seeing where it goes next," commented.
Gediminas Jaunius, Chief Producer at ELITAZ, added: ‘We’re proud to bring "The Floor" to the Baltics, especially from our newly launched hub in Lithuania. It’s a great fit for our region—smart, fast-paced, and high-energy. We’re confident audiences in Estonia, Latvia, and beyond will connect with it," expressed.
In "The Floor", 100 quiz enthusiasts compete in one-on-one duels on a large LED floor divided into 100 squares—each representing a different category of knowledge. The aim is to conquer the entire floor and claim a substantial cash prize. Each round, a contestant challenges a neighboring player in the category associated with that player’s square. Topics range from ‘famous athletes’ and ‘Hollywood actors’ to ‘iconic buildings’ and ‘mammals’. Some questions include images or sounds, while others rely on formats like multiple choice, open questions, or associations.
Winners claim their opponents’ squares and continue playing; those who lose are eliminated. As the competition progresses, the stakes rise and the matches become more intense. After eight episodes, only one contestant remains standing on "The Floor", winning €100,000.
