Turkish distributor Madd Entertainment announced the success of its series “All About Marriage” in Chile, where it airs on Mega TV under the title “Secretos del Matrimonio.” The series debuted with a 11.4 rating, and the second episode reached 10.1.
“All About Marriage” is only the latest in a string of hits Madd has brought to Mega TV. In fact, this week Mega broadcasted the final episode of “Flames of Fate” (El Escape de Cemre), which reached a rating of 13.8. Moreover, in 2022, “A Woman Scorned” (Traicionada) premiered to a 20.3% share and earned the network a rating of 13.3.
Each of these series are sophisticated dramas with premium characteristics and a proven track record with upmarket viewers. Another common thread is the central role of strong women: all three series feature female protagonists who overcome obstacles through their own agency. Women’s empowerment is an international trend that has made a deep impact on Turkish drama, and that trend has helped bring Turkish series to new audiences around the world.
In particular, “All About Marriage” is a top-rated drama produced by MF Yapim and aired on Turkey’s top-rated Fox network under the title “Evlilik Hakkında Her Şey.” The series, which has been sold to multiple territories around the world, is about a clan of high-powered divorce lawyers whose clients include billionaires, celebrities, and sometimes even themselves. This sophisticated family drama is adapted from a critically-acclaimed BBC series “The Split,” and directed by Yusuf Pirhasan.
Mega TV became the first broadcaster in Latin America to air a Turkish series back in 2014, scoring fantastic ratings and inspiring others. Even today, when Turkish dramas are a prime-time staple across Latin America, Mega TV is still considered one of the leaders when it comes to this genre.
