Lux Vide has concluded several new licensing agreements in Europe and internationally for its original hit drama series "Blanca" as it prepares its presentation for this year's MipTV 2022. “'Blanca' continues a Lux Vide tradition going back to our company’s founding 30-years ago of bringing to life deeply engaging series that tell compelling stories about remarkable characters and the lives they lead," Lux Vide CEO and Producer Luca Bernabei, said.

The first season of "Blanca," played by Maria Chiara Giannetta, has been a hit show in Italy for RAI since its premiere episode won the national primetime in November 2021 with a 25.97 share (nearly 6.4 million viewers). This marks Lux Vide’s first MIPTV since 70 percent of Italy’s leading independent television production company was acquired by Fremantle earlier this month. "Based on the immensely succesful launch of the series in Italy, I’m very confident that viewers in countries from Australia to Spain will enjoy the opportunity to watch Blanca turn her disability into a strength, making her dream of becoming a police profiler a reality while bringing criminals to justice. Viewers now need series with high concept," CEO and Producer, Luca Bernabei, said.

The newly completed deals for the 12-part series include: M6 in France, Mediaset Espana, Netflix Italy, MTVA  in Hungary, NHK for AXN Mystery in Japan and SBS in Australia. "Blanca" deals have also closed in CIS and the Baltics. Brazil’s Globo has licensed both Blanca and Good Morning, Mum! from the company. Format rights of this show has been optioned in the MENA territories as well. Lux Vide has also licensed Violet like the Sea, the new TV series with Turkish star Can Yaman to Dori for VIVA Channel in Israel.

The show is about the life and times of a blind police suspect profiler who lost her sight as a child. The loss of Blanca’s sense of sight has helped to make her a great expert in decoding – the analysis of wiretappings, interrogations, and filed depositions. Now back in her hometown of Genoa, and involved in a complicated case of kidnapping and murder, she faces a terrible threat that re- emerges from her past. Finally getting the chance to fulfil the dream she has cultivated since she was a child: police work.

She embarks on this new challenge with the enthusiasm and irony that distinguish her, determined to overcome the skepticism of her new colleagues and to demonstrate her abilities. But it is a short step between enthusiasm and recklessness, especially for those who don’t see the dangers coming... To help her in these adventures her most trusted friends: the guide dog Linnaeus, a female bulldog who protects and comforts her in the most difficult moments and her friend Stella, an exuberant beautician.
